Kent Police Arrest Campus Creeper

Kent Police have arrested the Kent State "pervert" whose been caught on doorbell security camera at two different Kent State sorority houses three times in the last month and a half, wearing nothing but underwear.

According to a post to the Kent PD Facebook page, police were able to identify the suspect as Steven Franzreb, 43, from North Royalton, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Office. In the post, Kent Police say that Franzreb was arrested without incident late Friday night, around 10:30, in Broadview Heights. Other media outlets are reporting that he was picked up at his work after police went to his North Royalton home and he wasn't there. 

Franzreb was held without bail throughout the weekend, charged with felony menacing. 

Kent State University issued the following statement regarding the arrest: 

On the evening of Oct. 11, the city of Kent Police Department made an arrest in the incidents involving a prowler outside sorority homes affiliated with Kent State University. As our students return to campus from fall break, we hope this will give them peace of mind. 

 The safety of our students and community members is our top priority. We would like to thank our partners at the city of Kent, including the city of Kent Police Department, and the agencies who provided assistance with this matter, including the U.S. Marshals Service and our own Kent State Police Department.

"Rubber City Round Up" Nets 60+ Arrests

U.S. Marshals, along with the help of several local law enforcement agenices, were able to catch up with and arrest 63 people, all who were wanted fugitives.

Akron, Ohio –U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott, Akron Police Chief Kenneth Ball and Summit County Sheriff Stephen Barry announce the conclusion the Rubber City Roundup, which was conducted in Akron last week.

The Rubber City Roundup was a Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task led multiagency warrant initiative conducted in Akron from Sept. 16 – 20. In total, the task force arrested 63 wanted fugitives who were wanted for crimes of sexual assault, assault, burglary, narcotic offenses, weapons offenses and failure to register as a sex offender. The task force also seized 5 firearms: 3 rifles and 2 handguns. The fugitive task force targeted fugitives wanted in and around the Akron area for violent crimes. Task force divisions from the Canton and Cleveland areas assisted in the operation.

Akron Police Chief Kenneth Ball stated, “The goal of this warrant operation was to show a strong law enforcement presence and arrest as many violent fugitives as possible. Last week, all law enforcement agencies involved demonstrated commitment to keeping Akron a safe place by arresting over 60 fugitives.”

Summit County Sheriff Steve Barry added, “We are proud of not only these arrests by the NOVFTF, but of the efforts they put forth every day to take violent people off the streets!”

The suspect in last week's shooting outside of a Summit Lake convenience store is this week's Fugitive of the Week.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is now looking for 24-year-old Eugene Wells, who is wanted for the murder of Walter Matthews Junior, who was shot and killed in broad daylight on Monday, June 3rd.

Wells is a black male, standing approximately 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 165 pounds. His last known address is near the 100 block of Fulton Street, Akron, Ohio.

Wells is to be considered armed and dangerous.

Akron Police, U.S. Marhals, and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force are looking for the public's help finding this week's Fugitive of the Week, 26-year-old Chris Johnson. 

According to a press release, Johnson is wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service and APD for the murder of Brandon Belleville back on September 19, 2017. 

No details related to the murder have been released, but Johnson (pictured) has been described as a black male, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, around 230 pounds, with a last known address in the 1300 block of Andrus Street in Akron.

Police Looking for Akron Bank Robber

(Akron Police) A reward of up to $10,000.00 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person responsible for the bank robbery at the Huntington Bank, located at 1411 South Arlington Street. 

Around 12:30pm this afternoon, the Huntington Bank was robbed. The employees reported the suspect entered the bank, jumped over the teller counter, and demanded money. The suspect, armed with a knife, took an unreported amount of cash from two tellers and fled out the rear door of the bank. He was last seen jumping over a fence into the back yards of the Rosemary Apartments. He was then seen getting into a black, 4-door vehicle. 

The suspect is a black male, 20–25 years old, 5’11”–6’01”, 150–170 lbs., and was wearing a black ski mask, a black wind breaker jacket, all black clothing, purple latex gloves, and carrying a black backpack with red strings.

ARRESTED: Fugitive of the Week Caught

Update: Wednesday afternoon, members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Randy Fitzgerald on a traffic stop on Route 8 in Macedonia.

The task force was assisted by officers from Boston Heights, the Summit Count Sheriff's Office and the Macedonia Police Department.

Although several tips were submitted on this case, the arrest was not a result of a tip.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is looking for Randy Fitzgerald, of Akron, who is this week's Fugitive of the Week.

U.S. Marshals and Akron Police are reporting that Fitzgerald is wanted for Weapons Under Disability in connection to an incident that left a small child shot in the stomach.

Back on May 20th, three children, ages 8,9 and 12, were left alone in a home on Marcy Street, when one of those children found one a gun, believed to belong to Fitzgerald, and shot another child in the stomach. The child lived. In the home, responding officers found another gun, drugs, and body armor. A warrant was issued for Fitzgerald who has been on the run since.

FOW: Akron Man Wanted in August Rape

The Akron Police Department, U.S. Marshals, and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force are asking the public's help finding Coren Harris Sr., who they say is wanted for kidnapping and rape. 

Harris Sr. (pictured) is wanted for the rape of a woman at his last known address on Cuyahoga Street in Akron back in August. 

He's a 43-year-old black male, about 6 foot 1 inch, weighing about 250 pounds. 

Akron Police detectives believe that Harris Sr. is still in or around the Akron area and consider him to be armed and dangerous.

FOW: Akron Man Sought in July Murder

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information which would lead to the capture of fugitive Bryan Esters.

Esters is wanted by the United States Marshals Service and the City of Akron Police for Murder and Felonious Assault. Esters is believed to have committed the homicide in the 300 block of Pioneer Street, Akron, OH that occurred on July 1, 2018. Esters, 33, is a black male, standing approximately 5 feet 8 inches and weighing 190 pounds.

Esters has ties throughout Akron area but his last known address is the 600 Block of Fern St. Akron. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

APD Looking for Akron Shooting Suspect

Early Saturday afternoon, Akron Police were called to the 900 block of Baughman Street on a report of a fight between two women, reportedly over a man.

According to the police report, the man that the two women were arguing over, identified as 24-year-old Shaquille L. Jones of Nesbitt Avenue (pictured), pulled a gun, pointed it at one of the females, and threatened to shoot her. That female victim fled the scene, followed shortly after by the second female.

Later that night, around 10:30, police say Jones was identified as the suspect who shot an 18-year-old man in the head and chest on Orrin Street. That victim was taken to Akron General, his status is unknown. Meanwhile, a warrant has been issued for Jones.

APD Looking for Domestic Assault Suspect

Akron Police are looking for 33-year-old Marcus Brooks, who is wanted on a Domestic Violence charge.

According to the APD report, a 25-year-old woman walked into the station about 3:30 Sunday morning, crying, bleeding from her head, and her right eye swollen and bruised. She reported that Brooks, who is her live-in boyfriend assaulted her during an argument, and then grabbed a pistol and threatened to shoot her. After she begged him not to shoot her, the victim told police Brooks hit her with the butt of the

The victim was able to get out of the house and then went right to the police. Brooks, meanwhile, left the house in the victim's car; a dark blue 2005 Nissan Maxima. He's listed as a 6 foot, 260 pound black male.

Suspect Arrested in Toddler's Death

U.S. Marshals have arrested Darnell Bitting, 31, of Akron, in connection to the shooting death of a young girl in the city last week. 

According to reports, the shooting happened inside a home in the 900 block of Mercer Avenue, Friday night around 10:30. Police say it appears the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute at the home. 

When police arrived, four children were inside a car with their grandmother. She told investigators that she and the children's mother arrived at the home to retrieve property from inside the house, but when no one answered the door, she says that the kids' mom broke out several windows. That's when a man came out of the house with a rifle and fired a shot that hit the car, and subsequently one of the children inside the car. 

Janaya Swain, 4, was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

On Saturday afternoon, U.S. Marshals arrested Bitting inside a home in the 749 block of Corley Street. He's been charged with murder and having weapons under disability.

APD Looking for Robbery Suspect

Akron Police are looking for a suspect they say robbed the Copley News on Copley Road at gunpoint on Tuesday, October 10th, just after 2 p.m. 

The suspect (pictured) is a black male, between 18 and 29-years-old, about 5'10", with black hair and brown eyes. 

APD is asking anyone who may recognize the man, to please call the Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490, the U.S. Marshals at 866-4-WANTED, or Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS. 

Tips can also be texted in to 274-637 (CRIMES), using the word "TIPSCO." 

Police believe the suspect is armed and dangerous, so if you see him, you're asked to call 911.

This week's Fugitive of the Week, courtesy of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is Thomas Kellwood, 36, who's wanted by the U.S. Marshals and Lodi Police on a domestic violence warrant.

Kellwood's alleged to have assaulted several members of his family, including his mother, and 2 children under 16-years-old. Kellwood is listed 5'6", and about 125 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and it possibly in Lodi or Rittman. If you see Kellwood, call 911.

Fugitive Of The Week: Akron Murder Suspect

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has named Kenneth Lindsey of Akron this week's Fugitive of the Week. 

Lindsey is wanted in connection to a murder last week on Pine Knolls Drive. It happened Wednesday morning around 7 a.m. Police say it started as a verbal argument and then Lindsey allegedly shot the victim in the chest. 

U.S. Marshals say Lindsey is likely hiding out in the Akron area. They're offering a reward for any information leading to Lindsey's arrest.

U.S. Marshals Looking For Hudson Man

 

Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is the offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of fugitive Raymond Gates. 

Gates is wanted by U.S. Marshals and Summit County Sheriff's Office on a rape charge. He's accused of raping an elderly woman near her Northfield Center home earlier in February. A warrant was issued for his arrest on February 10th. He is listed as a white male standing 6 feet tall, and weighing about 200 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. His last known address is in Hudson, Ohio.
