Indians beat reporter for MLB.com Jordan Bastian joined the Sam and Brad Show to talk about the Indians as they continue their series in Tampa.

Progressive Field is now certified as "sensory inclusive," after the Indians partnered with Kulture City out of Alabama, to ensure all programs, activities, and events that the ballpark hosts accommodate the needs of fans with sensory issues.

Part of the certification process was ensuring that all Progressive Field staff be trained by medical professionals to better recognize guests with sensory needs. Now, the stadium is equipped with sensory bags, that include noise-canceling headphones, weighted lap pads, and more.

Progressive Field joins other local establishments, including Quicken Loans Arena and the Akron Zoo as sensory inclusive.

The Cleveland Indians have partnered with KultureCity to make Progressive Field and all of the programs and events that the ballpark hosts to be sensory inclusive. This new initiative will promote an accommodating and positive experience for all guests and fans with a sensory issue who visit the ballpark. 

The certification process entailed the staff at Progressive Field being trained by leading medical professionals on how to recognize those guests and fans with sensory needs and how to handle a sensory overload situation.

Sensory bags, equipped with noise canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and weighted lap pads will also be available to all guests at the ballpark who may feel overwhelmed by the environment and can be checked out from Fan Services.

Sensory sensitivities or challenges with sensory regulation are often experienced by individuals with autism, dementia, PTSD and other similar conditions. One of the major barriers for these individuals is sensitivity to over stimulation and noise, which is an enormous part of the environment in a venue like Progressive Field. With its new certification, the ballpark is now better prepared to assist guests with sensory sensitivities in having the most comfortable and accommodating experience possible when attending any event at the ballpark 

“To know that you soon will be able to see families attend a baseball game, a true community binding experience, with their loved ones who have a sensory challenge and who were not able to previously attend, is truly a heartwarming moment,” said Traci Johnson, Executive Director of KultureCity. “Our communities are what shapes our lives and to know that the Indians are willing to go the extra mile to ensure that everyone, no matter their ability, is included in their community is amazing.”

Senior VP of Public Affairs for the Cleveland Indians Bobby DiBiasio spoke on the Sam and Brad Show to talk about Indians great Jim Thome going to the Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend.

DiBiasio says he will be in Cooperstown that weekend from July 27-30. The Induction will take place July 29.

Andre Knott, the Indians in-game reporter for Sports Time Ohio spoke with Sam and Brad to talk about the deal to aquire Brad Hand from the San Diego Padres.

Indians beat writer Chris Assenheimer spoke about the Indians' strengths and weaknesses heading into the All-Star Break and what the Tribe can do when the second half of the season resumes against Texas on Friday.

Cleveland, OH—The Cleveland Indians will resume tours of Progressive Field on Tuesday, May 1, with all proceeds benefiting Cleveland Indians Charities.

Tours will run through Saturday, Sept. 1 and will take place Monday-Saturday with the exceptions of holidays and day home games.

The tours will begin and end at the Team Shop and will be offered at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. On days when the team is on the road or is idle, a 1:30 p.m. tour will also be offered.

Fans can go behind the scenes to explore the most popular areas at the ballpark, including many typically not available to fans on game days.

Those areas include (subject to change):

• Lexus Home Plate Club
• Press Box
• Infiniti Club
• The Corner Bar
• Visitor’s Clubhouse (select days)
• Warning Track
• Home Dugout
• Batting Cages
• Terrace Club Feller Exhibit

Tours are available in several packages:

• Public: $12 for adults; $10 for children (14 and under) and senior citizens (60 and over) 
• Group: Group tours are available for $400 and include 40 tickets.

o   Additional tickets are available at $10 each.

• School: Cleveland Indians Charities presents a special tour program for schools for $7 per ticket.

Tribe broadcaster Jim Rosenhaus joined the Sam and Brad Show Monday to talk about the Indians, the cold, and their early homestand.

Coming off a great season but disappointing finish in 2017, the 2018 Cleveland Indians have unfinished business to tend to. The team lost a few familiar faces in the offseason, but many members of the squad are back, as well as some new blood.

Ray will have interviews with anyone and everyone around the baseball team, from the players to the front office executives, all the way down to the person who puts the bases on the field.

ESPN Senior Writer Buster Olney spoke with Sam and Brad to talk about spring training as well aa the Cleveland Indians' prospects for sustained success moving forward.

Keynote speaker and Baseball Hall of Famer Robbie Alomar spoke with Sam and Brad ahead of tonight's Hot Stove Banquet.

Robbie talked about his memories playing in Cleveland, and his baseball journey.

Robbie will be speaking along with Sheldon Ocker, who was the recipient of the JG Taylor Spink Award for journalism and will also be in Cooperstown this summer.

One of the Tribe's most popular and productive players will be enshrined in Cooperstown in July, and had a chance to reflect on his time in Cleveland with the media and fans.

Jim Thome was back in Cleveland to answer questions from the media one week after he recieved his call to the Hall.

He talked about the pride he felt in being a first-ballot Hall of Famer and how he accomplished that feat with the help of his teammates and coaching staff.

"The man gets the honor, but it's so much more than about just the individual honor," he said.

 Thome and Bob Feller are the only two players in Indians history to be enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot.

Thome retired with 612 home runs and five All-Star appearances in 22 seasons in the Major Leagues.

One of Jim's mentors, former Tribe hitting coach and manager Charlie Manuel spoke with him before he received the call to Cooperstown. Thome recalled how Charlie helped build up not only his confidence, but the other players around him.

"Charlie's greatest gift is that he could build anybody up to be great, at least make them think they're great, and that's what I love most about him."

Thome is one of six members in this year's Hall of Fame Class, joining Trevor Hoffman, Chipper Jones, Vladamir Guererro, along with Jack Morris and Alan Trammell, who were elected this past December.

Thome had a sit-down interview with the radio voice of the Indians, Tom Hamilton before he spoke with the media. That interview can be seen on Sports Time Ohio at a later time.

The event was held at the Westfield Insurance Studio inside the Idea Center in Cleveland's Playhouse Square.

He says he does not know who will present him for enshrinement in July, but that he will speak with his wife Andrea, who was in the audience, and decide that at a later time.

In addition, Jim says he will wear the Block C at his induction in light of the news surrounding Chief Wahoo's removal earlier in the week.

Cleveland Indians Senior V.P. of Public Affairs Bobby DiBiasio spoke at the 1590 WAKR Cleveland Indians Luncheon at the Duck Club.

Bobby D was Canal Park Wednesday to discuss the team as well as the recent news surrounding the removal of Chief Wahoo in 2019.

The Cleveland Indians have announced that after the 2018 season, they will abandon Chief Wahoo, removing the controversial logo from caps and sleeves. 

Chief Wahoo has been the polarizing centerpiece of a long-running debate on whether or not the logo is racist. At the start of every Major League Baseball season, protesters gather outside of Progressive Field to voice their opinion on the logo as fans flock to the stadium for the home opener. 

The logo was at the center of a national debate and was scrutinized heavily after a lawsuit was filed during the American League Championship Series between the Indians and the Blue Jays. The suit, filed in a Toronto court, was an effort to have the Chief Wahoo logo AND the Indians name banned from appearing on Canadian television during the series. Several Canadian broadcasters, and some national sports TV broadcasters, went as far as not saying the club name "Indians" during reports. The court case was tossed out by a Toronto judge. 

While the team will not wear the Chief Wahoo logo beyond the 2018 season, the club will still retain the rights and hats and jerseys will still be sold at team shops and through other vendors both online and in-store. 

Scott Miller from Bleacher Report joined Justin McKinney and Bem Thomas on the Sam and Brad Show Friday to talk about the Carlos Santana deal to the Philadelphia Phillies. 

He also discussed the winter meetings in Orlando as well.

Jordan Bastian, Indians reporter for MLB.com spoke with Sam and Brad to talk about the winter meetings and if the Indians will be making any moves. 

The Cleveland Indians announced Wedensday that they will extend the safety netting at Progressive Field to the ends of each dugout before the start of the upcoming 2018 season. 

According to a press release, the mesh netting will extend from section 164 along the third base line around to section 140 down the first base line. 

The move comes after MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred made a push for all ballparks around the league to do the same, after a young girl was hit with a foul ball, reportedly traveling 105 miles per hour, during a game at Yankees Stadium in New York back in September. She suffered multiple facial fractures. 

In a press release, Indians Vice President of Ballpark Operations Jim Folk said, "We remain committed to delivering the best experience for our fans at Progressive Field. Safety is our number one priority and these measures should balance that commitment to safety with the interactive nature of our game, something we know is important to our fans." 

Terry Pluto, sport columnist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com joined the Sam and Brad Show to talk about the Indians' loss at the hands of the Yankees. 

He also discussed the players who are free agents including Jay Bruce and Carlos Santana, and if they would be in an Indians uniform next spring. 

Former Cleveland Indian "Super" Joe Charboneau spoke with Sam and Brad ahead of tonight's Game #5 in Cleveland.

He says he's confident the Indians can move past the Yankees and advance to the ALCS.

John Telich from Fox 8 Sports spoke with Sam and Brad ahead of a win-or-go-home Game #5 at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario between the Indians and Yankees.

Indians Live host Al Pawlowski spoke with Sam and Brad Tuesday ahead of a critical Game #5 against New York tomorrow at Progressive Field.

Hall of Fame pitcher and FOX Sports MLB Analyst John Smoltz spoke with Sam and Brad ahead of Game #4  of the ALDS in New York.

The Indians hold a 2-1 lead over the Yankees in the best-of-five series. 

Ahead of the ALDS Game #1, first base coach and former Tribe great Sandy Alomar Jr talked about throwing out the first pitch tonight.

He also talked about he and the club being thankful for another opportunity to be in the postseason.

"It means a lot to us," Sandy explained.  "I'm very proud of this team."

Cleveland Indians beat writer Paul Hoynes from Cleveland.com and the Cleveland Plain Dealer spoke with Sam Bourquin and Brad Russell to discuss the ALDS Thursday.

The Tribe will play the winner of the Yankees/Twins Wild Card Game on Tuesday. 

Cleveland Indians outfielder Greg Allen, who was recently called up from AA Akron, joined the Sam and Brad Show on a "Feel Good Friday" to talk about his play and the Tribe's historic winning streak.

The Indians play the Kansas City Royals tonight at 7:10pm on 1590 WAKR.

In the midst of an historic winning streak, the Indians are looking ahead to next season... Not really, they just released their 2018 schedule as it's now been set. 

Some notables: 

- The Indians open the season on the westcoast, with a series in Seattle against the Mariners on Thursday, March 29th. 

- The Home Opener is Friday, April 6th, against the Kansas City Royals at Progressive Field. 

- In a rematch of the 2016 World Series, the Indians host the Cubs April 24th and 25th, and play two at Wrigley Field May 22nd and 23rd.
