:17 - We’ve been visiting with the local mayors in January, and today we head to eastern Medina County and chat with the mayor of Wadsworth, Robin Laubaugh. The Wadsworth mayor chatted about her town coming out of 2019, as well as the continued development downtown and at Route 94 and I-76.

10:12 - A Washington Post reporter was suspended for revisiting the late Kobe Bryant’s allegations of rape from over 15 years ago. The timing may have been questionable, but should she have been suspended?

20:20 - The ratings are out from Sunday’s Grammy Awards, and once again, they were way down. Are awards shows going by the wayside, or is it pop music doesn’t have the mass appeal it once had?

:17 - This Jussie Smollett situation has been the most interesting and polarizing story in 2019….at least since Covington Catholic from a few weeks back. Ray and Tony talked about the Empire actor getting fingerprinted over what has become a hate crime hoax, as well as how much time he may serve for this.

8:54 - College football is big business, but how big is it for the non-Ohio States and Alabamas of the world? Malone University has cut their football team to save money. What about D1 schools that aren’t top-tier, like the Akron Zips? Dr. John Green, interim president at the University of Akron, talked about the importance of a school’s football program, both on the field and off.

19:29 - February 22nd is National Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day. Sue Peschin is the president and CEO for the Alliance of Aging Research joined the show to raise awareness for proper heart health.

23:47 - It’s a surprisingly slow weekend at the movie houses, especially with the Oscars happening this Sunday. Our movie guy Scott Wynn joined the show, as he usually does on Fridays.

26:36 -Big matchup in girls hoops on Monday. Andy Booth, head coach of the Wadsworth Lady Grizzlies basketball team, joined the show to preview.

:17 - This week marks 30 years of the thing we call the Internet. The panel talked about what radio, or life in general, was like without this device.

12:51 - Happening on Sunday at the Canton Palace Theatre is Love Letters, a play starring I Dream of Jeannie’s Barbara Eden and Barney Miller’s Hal Linden. Hal talked to Tony Mazur about the production, as well as his years starring on Barney Miller.

27:28 - Today is the Mayor Dan Horrigan’s State of the City Address, but another community to the west is having theirs tonight, as well. Wadsworth mayor Robin Laubaugh called into the show to go over her city in 2018 and looking ahead to the rest of 2019, which includes a lot of positive development both downtown and elsewhere.

39:47 - One of the baseball dominoes fell on Tuesday, as former Oriole and Dodger Manny Machado heads to San Diego on a 10-year, $300 million deal. How will this change the league? And does this mean the beginning of the end for someone like Francisco Lindor, who’ll garner as much or more cash from a team in two years?

The 17 year old Wadsworth boy was charged with stranging his 98 year old neighbor, Margaret Douglas, has been found guilty of multiple felony charges, including aggravated murder, in connection with her death.

Gavon Ramsay changed his not guilty plea to "no contest". He was suupposed to go on trial, Monday, where cell phone evidence was going to be presented. According to reports, Ramsay's mother gave detectives permission to access the cell phone that she shared with her son. On that phone were pictures of Douglas' dead body. 

Instead, he'll be sentenced on January 3rd, for killing Douglas, and hiding her body inside her home on Portage Street.

 

:17 - We’re now a week away from the midterm elections, which, in Ohio, include the governor race. Current attorney general Mike DeWine called into the show to discuss his campaign and his platforms leading up to election day.

11:27 - Not long after we got off the air yesterday, the Cleveland Browns said goodbye to head coach Hue Jackson and, eventually, OC Todd Haley. DC Gregg Williams is the interim head coach with the understanding that the Browns will be on the search for a head coach soon.

17:45 - It started as an interim position, but it was made permanent on Monday, as Dr. Cliff Deveny is now the president and CEO of Summa Health Systems. The Akron native talked to Ray about his tenure so far and what he foresees down the road.

24:01 - The Wadsworth football team is undefeated on the season, but have a big game against Wooster on the horizon. Justin Todd, the head coach, talked about his Grizzlies.

29:36 - Speaking of undefeated teams, Barberton has been trudging through their opponents this season. Head coach Tony Gotto talked about his Magics and their upcoming games against Tri-Valley.

34:09 - Back to the Browns. Fred Greetham from the Orange & Brown Report was in Berea for the bloodbath at Browns camp and he shared what he knows and has heard.

Wadsworth head coach Justin Todd talked about the Week #3 matchup against the Medina Bees on Friday night.

 

A Wadsworth teen charged with aggravated murder in the death of his elderly neighbor has pleaded not guilty to all 9 felony counts against him. 

Gavon N. Ramsay, 17, a Junior at Wadworth High School, is charged as an adult in the death of 98-year-old Margaret Douglas, who police say was murdered and her body hidden in a closet inside of her home on Portage Street back on April 9th. 

Ramsay was indicted back on May 22nd, and on Tuesday, he appeared in Medina County Common Pleas Court in front of Judge Joyce V. Kimbler. Chief Public Defender Jocelyn Stefancin entered a "not guilty" plea to each of the 9 felony counts against Ramsay, which include four counts of Aggravated Murder, two counts of Murder, one count of kidnapping, one count of Aggravated Burglary, and one county of Gross Abuse of a Corpse. 

The murder trial of Ramsay is set to begin August 6th. He's currently being held in the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center on $1 Million bond. 

As the year winds down, Ray Horner catches up with the mayors across the region and how their cities and townships fared.
