This Week in Tech with Jeanne Destro-9-21-18

This week, a life-saving smart-watch, civilian cyber-warriors, scandal at Amazon, and a new invention for first responders dealing with the opiod epidemic. 


Mansfield area residents are being warned to lock the doors of their homes and cars, and to be cautious this morning, as there's a suspect on the loose federal authorities are describing as "dangerous".

He's 27 year old Shawn Richard Christy of Pennsylvania, and US Marshals say he threatened the life of a county prosecutor in Pennsylvania, and that of President Trump, in a post on Facebook. They say he stole a truck, and crashed it along I-71 in the Mansfield area. 

Christy is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs approximately 160 pounds, is a white male with a light complexion, has a tattoo of a cross on his right upper arm, short dark blonde hair and a beard. 

Christy also speaks with a noticeable lisp and claims to be a survivalist. Christy is from McAdoo Pennsylvania. Christy should be consider armed and dangerous. Citizens in the Mansfield area should use caution. Homes and cars should remain locked. 

If you see Christy call the authorities immediately. 

The U.S. Marshal Service is asking anyone with information on this vehicle to call 911 or the U.S. Marshals direct at: 1-866-4-WANTED or text keyword WANTED and the tip to TIP411 (847411). Federal Agents are offering a cash award of up to $20,000 for information leading to the direct arrest of Christy. Any information will be considered confidential.

FBI On The Hunt for Macedonia Bank Robber

Another bank robbery in the Akron area....this one, yesterday--at the Ohio Savings Bank branch on Macedonia Commons Boulevard, in Macedonia.

 Witnesses and victims describe the bank robber as a black male in his forties or fifties, approximately 5'10", between 170-190 pounds.  He wore dark clothing and had a covering on his face. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation at 216-522-1400 or the Macedonia Police Department at 330-468-1234.  Tips can remain anonymous.  Reward money is available for information leading to the successful identification and prosecution of the individual responsible.

$10K Reward: PNC Bank Robbers Sought

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrests and indictments of suspects in two recent robberies at PNC Banks here in Akron...one, at 181 massillon Road  August 24, and the other, at 1546 West Market Street, On August 31.  

Police believe they may have been committed by the same suspects.

The first suspect is a black male, 20 – 30 years old, 6’0”, and was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, white bandana covering his face, and dark colored pants. The second suspect is a black male, 20 – 30 years old, 5’08”, with slight facial hair, and wearing sunglasses, blue hooded sweatshirt, and dark colored pants.
