The HAMMY, an annual CrossFit and 5K event held to celebrate the life of U.S. Army Specialist Adam S. Hamilton, is scheduled for May 20, 2017 at the Kent State University Fieldhouse.

The event includes “The Hammy” CrossFit workout and a 5K run/walk.  Participants can enter one or both events.  The CrossFit event can also be entered as a two-person team.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Adam S. Hamilton Academic and Athletic Scholarship Fund.  The Scholarship Fund was established to carry on Adam’s legacy of service to the community. Each year, two $10,000 college scholarships are awarded to worthy Kent Roosevelt High School seniors (one male and one female) who have shown leadership in the classroom, on the playing fields and in the community.  Scholarship award winners must have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average and lettered in two different sports during their high school careers.

This year will mark the 7th year that The Hammy has been held and to date 12 scholarships have been awarded to Kent Roosevelt High School seniors.
