The Summit County Medical Examiner has identified Wednesday's homicide victim who was shot at Eastland and Bethany Avenues Wednesday as 27-year-old Tiffany Rhea from Akron.

According to the Akron Police report, Rhea and an unidentified suspect got into a a verbal altercation near the intersection of Eastland Avenue and Bethany Avenue.

Rhea got out of the passenger's seat of her boyfriend's car, the argument escalated, and then the suspect pulled a gun, firing several shots before fleeing the scene. It is unclear whether the suspect was on foot or in another vehicle; it was only reported that they left in an "unknown direction." 

Police responded to the area of the shooting at about 4:15 p.m. Upon arrival, police noticed several shell casings and blood, but the victim was not there. They are reporting that the Rhea's boyfriend, who has not been named, took her to Akron City Hospital where she later died. 

The cause of death is listed as a gunshot wound the the torso.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to come forward.

On Wednesday afternoon, Akron Police Officers responded to a call of a woman overdosing at a gas station on Mogadore Road about noon, according to the report. When they arrived, they found the woman passed out in the front passenger seat of a Buick and an 11 month old baby boy in the back seat.

Paramedics responded to the scene, reviving the woman with narcan, and then transporting her to Akron City.

While police were still there, the child's father, 29-year-old Andrew C. Carter of Mogadore, was arrested when he returned to the car. He's been booked into the Summit County Jail on felony child endangering charges. The baby, meanwhile, is in the custody of Child Services.

The woman later told police they'd bought Fentanyl along Manchester Road.

(APD) Around noon yesterday, officers responded to an overdose at a gas station in the 2500 block of Mogadore Road.  When officers arrived, they observed an unresponsive female in the front seat of a 1998 Buick Century.  Officers then observed the female’s 11 month old son in the back seat of the car.  While paramedics were administering Narcan to the female, the male driver came over to the car.

Paramedics revived the female and transported her to Akron City Hospital for further treatment.  The adult male, Andrew C. Carter, 29, of Herbert Street in Mogadore, was charged with child endangering and booked into the Summit County Jail.  The child was placed into the custody of the Summit County Child Services.

The female stated they bought Fentanyl on Manchester Road.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was shot multiple times along I-77 near Wilbeth Road in Coventry Township Saturday night, just before 10 p.m.

According to the release, Deputies responded to a one-car accident in that same area, where they found a silver BMW that has crashed into the guardrail along the southbound lanes near Wilbeth. The driver was slumped over in the car, revived on the scene, and taken to Akron City Hospital where he was treated and is expected to survive.

Investigators are not releasing the name of the victim, and are asking anyone with information to call the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

(SCSO) On October 6, 2018, at approximately 9:54 p.m., the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one vehicle accident on Interstate 77 North at the 122 Mile Post. A silver BMW was reported to have crashed into a guard rail and eventually coming to rest in the northbound lanes of traffic.

The driver of the vehicle appeared to be unconscious in the vehicle slumped over the center console. The responding deputies forced open the vehicle and removed the driver. The driver was evaluated and found to have multiple gunshot wounds and was showing no signs of life. The deputies performed first aid until the arrival of the Coventry Fire Department. The male was revived on scene and transported to Akron City Hospital and is expected to survive.

The shooting was determined to have occurred on Interstate 77 South near Wilbeth Road in the city of Akron. The victim was identified as a 22 year old male from the city of Akron. The identity of the male victim is not being released at this time. Anyone with information can call the Summit County Sheriff’s Office or Crimestoppers.

An Akron man died early Friday morning after a tree branch fell onto his car while he was driving along Front Street near 2nd in Cuyahoga Falls. 

According to the Summit County Medical Examiner Gary Gunther's press release, 60-year-old Robert Musch was driving near the Gorge Metro Parks at around 5:50 Friday morning when a large branch from a tree snapped off and came crashing down on his vehicle. The 911 was placed at 5:52 a.m. and Cuyahoga Falls Police, Fire and EMS responded to the scene. 

Mr. Musch was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Akron City Hospital where he was pronounced dead, just about a half hour later at 6:23 a.m. 

Akron Police are looking for three suspects in a drive-by shooting that happened Tuesday evening, around 5:30, in the 800 block of Beardsley Street.

According to the APD report, a 43-year-old man was shot, though it is unclear how many times. He was taken to Akron City Hospital, treated, and eventually released.

The suspects are described as three black males in a silver or gray Dodge Stratus.

Police say the shots came from the front passenger-side window.

We have an update on the shooting in Akron's West Hill neighborhood this morning.

According to the report, just before 5 this morning Akron Police responded to the 300 block of Gold Street near Nickel, on a call about a shooting.

There were two male victims that were shot; one in the head, the other in the arm. The first victim is at Akron General in Critical Condition, while the second was taken to Akron City Hospital and is in serious condition. A short time later, Akron Police arrested Hedy Moss, 49, who fled the scene after the shooting, and charged her with two counts felonious assault.

She's in Summit County Jail.

The victims' names have not been released, pending the notification of their families. 

The Summit County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal accident that happened in the City of Green Sunday evening. 

According to the report, a 2017 Suzuki Gladius motorcycle was traveling southbound on South Main Street when a 1999 Ford Escort, heading northbound, attempted to make a left turn into a home along South Main Street. The Escort crossed traffic and the motorcycle collided with it, launching the rider off of the bike. The 20-year-old rider ended up nearly 50 feet from the original accident spot. His bike landed in northbound traffic along South Main, where another driver ran into it. 

The motorcyclist was transported by the Green Fire Department to Akron City Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 22-year-old female driver of the Escort suffered minor injuries on the scene. The other driver was unharmed.

No charges have been filed yet and it is unclear whether speed, alcohol, or other drugs factored into the crash. It remains under investigation. 

Summa Health System has lost its appeal of the decision to remove the accreditation of the emergency room physician training program at Akron City Hospital. 

The Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education removed the accreditation from Akron City's Emergency Medicine Residency Program back in February; a result of the health system's abrupt decision to swap ER doctor providers over the New Year. The decision had a ripple effect throughout the health system including a vote of "no confidence" in Summa leadership and then President and CEO Dr. Thomas Malone stepping down. The emergency room physician training program will no longer operate at Akron City effective July, 2017. 

The Summa Health System board of directors has since named Dr. Cliff Deveny interim President and CEO while they look for a permanent replacement (Dr. Deveny is reportedly near the top of that short list). 

Last week, Dr. Deveny sent a memo to employees that an accrediting firm doing an audit of Summa found "no cause for concern" regarding the quality of patient care in Summa emergency rooms.
