No Snow, Warm Temps Close Local Ski Resorts

The warm start to the winter season is leaving local ski resorts empty.

The winter weather is taking a break -- even before it begins -- which is putting things on hold at local ski resorts.

Boston Mills/Brandywine Ski Resort spent last weekend making snow and opened the Boston Mills ski area on Sunday. Unfortunately, the weather quickly changed from near freezing temperatures to a warm and rainy forecast across Northeast Ohio.

Music to our ears.Temperatures have allowed snowmaking to begin for the 15/16 ski season. We are staying optimistic and hope to have information on opening soon.

The above average temperatures are expected to last through the rest of the year, which has put the winter ski season on hold for local resorts .

Ski resorts typically need consistent temperatures -- generally below 28 degrees -- to make snow and a dusting of real snow helps, too.

Last year, Boston Mills/Brandywine opened on New Year's Eve. In 2013, the ski resort opened the season near the end of November.
