A former Canton McKinley H.S. swim coach now says he did have a sexual relationship with a student, and more than once, back when he was coaching her.

Samuel Seiple, 57, says that between May, 2014 and November, 2015, he sexually assaulted the girl who was 16-years-old at the time.

The 8-month-long investigation by the Stark County Sheriff's Office revealed evidence of potentially other victims, but Seiple has only been charged in this case. In court on Monday, Seiple pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a minor. He was sentenced 180 days in jail, but 178 days of the sentence were suspended. The Canton Repository is reporting the judge's thought was that the two days in jail would help Seiple "understand what it's like to be a criminal."

Seiple began working at Canton McKinley in 1994. The Canton City School district says he submitted his resignation on August 11, 2017.

One of the area's better teams will be getting ready to strap it up and hit the gridiron for the 2016 football season.

Dan Reardon, the head coach of the Canton McKinley Bulldogs joined Sammy B to talk about his team and how they are preparing themselves for the season.

"We're going to be a pretty veteran team," Reardon said. "We have right around 30 lettermen coming back and we have 8 guys coming back on defense, so  that's going to be a strength."

One of the key returnees on offense is quarterback Dominque Robinson, who is committed to play his college football at Miami-OH.

Reardon says his signal caller is a good leader on and off the football field.

"He was voted as a captain as a junior and it will probably be a unanimous vote this season," Reardon said. "He's a good student and a good kid,  and he still has a tremendous amount of upside as a quarterback."

Head coach of the Bulldogs' boys basketball team Rick Hairston joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about his team being prepared for the Irish and how his team is coming together on the hardwood.

"We got a lot done today," coach Hairston said. "We went through a little stretch where it was pretty tough for us."

AUDIO Tigers and Bulldogs Renew Rivalry

The War of 1894 will be taking place yet again at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, and with the Massillon Tigers and McKinley Bulldogs getting ready to tussle, both coaches expect to see 100% effort from their young men Saturday afternoon.

Nate Moore, the head coach of the Tigers joined 1590 WAKR to talk about the rivalry, his team battling through adversity throughout the season, and what it's going to take to stop McKinley's playmakers.

Moore said that by containing McKinley dual-threat QB Dominique Robinson and limiting touches for other Bulldog playmakers, the Tigers should be alright.

"The quarterback is a good athlete, he has a good arm, so we have to stay disciplined defensively," he said.

For McKinley, head coach Dan Reardon says his team is playing good football and will have to maintain focus in a rivalry game and not let the emotion surrounding it cloud them from executing.
