Canton Police Looking for Missing Teen

Stark County Sheriff's Deputies, along with Canton Police are looking for a missing Canton teen.

There isn't much information right now, and we're not sure where 16-year-old Christa Hicks was last seen, but a missing child poster was issued this morning.

She is said to frequent the Alliance area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Canton Police Department.

Canton ID Two Dead In Murder-Suicide

Canton Police say it was a father and son who were killed in a murder-suicide that left North Canton Middle School closed Monday.

There were two crime scenes police investigated, forcing the school closure; one at a home on Harmon Street Southwest where the father, later identified as Ronald G. Milliken, was found with multiple gunshot wounds. The 18-year-old son, Devin P Milliken, was found outside a city park restroom on Hillcrest Avenue Southwest, not far from the home.

Canton Father Charged In 3 Year-Old's Murder

The father of a 3 year-old Canton girl has been charged with her murder.

Canton police arrested 22 year-old Mathew Miku in the death of his 3 year-old daughter Hailey Miku.

Miku and his live-in girlfriend - 21 year-old Jessica Bender - also face child endangering charges.

Canton police Capt. Jack Angelo tells NewsChannel 5 that there were cuts and bruises to Hailey Miku...both over time, and fresh.

Mathew Miku had no prior criminal history, and is being held on $1 million bond.

A 5 year-old who is reportedly not a sibling of Hailey is in custody of Child Protective Services.

Hailey's grandparents have a GoFundMe account set up - to help pay for funeral expenses.

Canton police are looking into the death of a three-year-old girl as a homicide.

Police tell the Canton Repository that the girl's father called paramedics late this/Friday morning to a home on Dewalt Avenue Northwest because the child was not breathing.

Paramedics determined the girl was dead, and called police.

Canton Police Chief Bruce Lawver tells NewsChannel 5 that there appeared to be blunt force injury to the child.

He says that there is a suspect being interviewed, but as of yet, there are no charges.

Report: Alleged K9 Killer Indicted

The man accused of killing Canton police dog "Jethro" has been indicted on a number of charges.

The Canton Repository reports that 22 year-old Kelontre Barefield was indicted by a Stark County Grand Jury on Tuesday on charges including aggravated robbery, felonious assault, and charges of assaulting and harrassing a police dog.

The indictments also include some firearms specifications.

Barefield is charged with shooting Jethro after a January burglary at a supermarket in southwest Canton.

Jethro died of his injuries, after having been shot three times.

Toddler Surviving After Car Backed Over Her

A toddler should survive after Canton police say her mom apparently backed over the child with a car in their driveway over the weekend.

NewsChannel 5 reports that it happened at about 3 PM Sunday at the house on 19th Street Northeast.

The one-and-a-half year old was taken to Canton's Mercy Medical Center and later transported to Akron Children's Hospital, where surgery was set for Monday.

Canton police say the toddler was in stable condition and is expected to survive.

They haven't figured out how the child got behind the vehicle. No charges were filed as of Monday afternoon.

AMBER Child Found Unharmed

Three people have been arrested in connection with a Stark County AMBER Alert.  Stark County Sheriff's deputies say one woman took another woman's child and left without permission after a fight at a residence on Oak Avenue NW.

Police recovered the child with three adults about 90 minutes later; she's unharmed and back with her mother.  Police found the child in a vehicle on 14th Street NW in Canton.

27-year old Raina Becker faces Abduction and Domestic Violence charges; both 27 year old Brandon Ramsey and 37 year old Jason Ramsey also face Abduction charges. All three are being held in the Stark County Jail.

Bond Set at $5 Million For Alleged K9 Killer

The man accused of killing a Canton police dog during a burglary will be held behind bars after he gets out of the hospital.

Bond was set at 5-million dollars for 22 year-old Kelontre Barefield, who faces charges now including aggravated burglarly and assaulting or harrasing a police dog, along with other felonious assault and weapons charges.

Canton police say that list may not be the final list of charges.

K-9 Jethro responded with human officers to a burglary call at a Harrison Avenue SW store.

Police say Barefield shot Jethro three times, before officers returned fire.

Barefield is in Aultman Hospital in guarded condition.
