The Summit County Sheriff's Office is investigating a home invasion and robbery at a Coventry Township home on Chenoweth Road last night.

 

According to the Sheriff's Office report, the suspect or suspects brok into the home at about 11:20 p.m. They took cash and several guns, including a 12-gauge shotgun, three rifles, and serveral other firearms. 

In addition to the robbery, the Sheriff's Office is reporting damage inside the home and damage to vehicles at the home.

UPDATE Jackson Township police have their man now behind bars; Dimitrius Shawn Laury was considered armed and dangerous. wanted for a home invasion targeting an elderly woman and another break-in. Laury was taken into custody shortly after midnight, according to a release from the Jackson Township Police Department.

Laury was charged with attempted rape and aggravated burglary relating to the home invasion on Aramis Street NW. He's also wanted in connection with a breaking and entering last February on Oxford Street NW.

The Massillon man is being held in the Stark County Jail.

(Jackson Township PD) Jackson Township Police Department has taken into custody Dimitrius Shawn Laury. 

Mr. Laury was arrested at 2232 Winfield Way NE, Canton, OH, on May 28, 2016, at 0025 hours on the following charges:

Attempted Rape, F2 and Aggravated Burglary, F1

Mr. Laury was being sought in connection with the home invasion that occured on May 23, 2016 at 2:00 a.m. in the 7600 block of Aramis Street, NW, and assaulted an elderly female.

Police were able to identify him in the burglary that occured at that address. Police do believe he is also connected to the incident that occured in the 3600 block of Oxford St., NW.

Jackson Township Police would like to thank the Stark County Crime Lab and the Ohio Bureau of Investigation for their assistance in processing the evidence. Jackson Township Detective Bureau was also assisted by US Marshals, Stark County Sheriff's Deputies, and Canton Police Department in the arrest of Dimitrius Shawn Laury.

A Massillon man is being sought by police in those home invasions this week in Jackson Township.

Jackson Township police have a warrant for the arrest of Dimitrius Shawn Laury on charges of attempted rape and aggravated burglary.

Police say he's charged in connection with the home invasion early Monday at an Aramis Street house, where an elderly woman was attacked.

They also think Laury is connected to another break-in on Oxford Street NW.

Laury is from Massillon, though police say he's lived elsewhere in Stark County.

He's considered armed and dangerous.

Mr. Laury resides at 132 Dwight Ave, SE, Massillon, OH, however, has been known to stay at various addresses throughout the County. He is 6"1, 250 pounds, light skinned African American. Mr. Laury is considered to be armed and dangerous. Police ask that if you come in contact with him do not approach him. Immediately call 911.

APD: Home Invasion Leads To Drug Arrests

Akron police say that a home invasion robbery in East Akron Friday night led them to a drug house.

The robbery happened at about 9:30 on Friday night at the home on Concord Avenue. One 19 year-old man was shot in the left forearm and to that side of his body, and was taken to Akron City Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers responding to the robbery and shooting say they saw narcotics in plain sight...and recovered marijuana, scales and a bong after serving a search warrant.

Three suspects are being sought in the robbery.

Five people living in or visiting the house were charged with occupying a drug premises.
