VOTE 2015: The General Election

You can call Dan Horrigan "Akron mayor-elect".

Horrigan had no trouble defeating Republican Eddie Sipplen 72 to 24 percent. Independent candidate William Melver falling far behind at 3.7 percent of the vote.

Jeff Fusco will return to his former Council at Large seat, joined by incumbent Linda Omobien and newcomer Veronica Sims.

Democrats ran the table in ward council races as well. All incumbent Democrats will return to Akron City Council, joined by former councilman Bruce Kilby in Ward 2, and Zack Milkovich in Ward 10.

Statewide, voters gave thumbs down to the Issue 3 plan to legalize marijuana. Issue 3 is losing by a 65-35 percent margin. Anti-monopoly Issue 2 is passing, 52-48 percent, and the redistricting issue, Issue 1, is passing handily, 71 to 29 percent.

In Summit County, County Council-based Issue 21 was passed, 61 to 38 percent. Issue 22, led by former council member Bill Roemer, lost 57 to 42 percent.

Akron Municipal Judge - there are two seats, and winners are Jerry Larson and Jon Oldham.

Stow Municipal Judge - Lisa Coates won 62-24 percent over Lee Ann Schaffer, David Worhatch with 13 percent of the vote.-

Stow Municipal Court Clerk - Diana Colavecchio has a very small lead over Kevin Coughlin, 40 to 39 percent, with Don Robart has 21 percent.

Mayoral winners: Green - Gerard Neugebauer, Stow - Sara Drew, Tallmadge - David Kline, Norton - Mike Zita
