Exactly one year since its groundbreaking, Central Park in the city of Green will officially open to the public this weekend.
Members of the media were given a tour of the more than 8-acre park, nestled in the heart of the city near the city's administration building, before it opens to the public this Saturday, July 9.
The park includes a one-mile asphalt trail, a splash pad, an amphitheater for concerts, an outdoor plaza for markets and community events, and a seasonal ice-skating rink.
City officials said a new community center has been added near the amphitheater to help with the high demand at the John Torok Community Center on Massillon Road, across from new park's location. The pricing structure to rent the facilities is set to be different from the current prices at the Torok center. The facility will not be available available before August 1, but resident will be able to submit reservations beginning July 11.
Foods trucks will be available every Tuesday during the Farmers Market schedule beginning July 12 through Sept. 27.
