AUDIO: Terry Pluto On Francona, ALCS

The first ALCS in nine years for the Indians is set to kick off Friday, and this time, the Tribe has the home field advantage.

Terry Pluto, author and long-time columnist for the Akron Beacon Journal and now the Plain Dealer, joined the Ray Horner Morning Show to talk about this run from Terry Francona’s Indians. Pluto discussed Tito’s managerial style and how the players have come to embrace it. Though Francona may not show it publicly, Pluto believes beating his former team in the ALDS was huge.

Onto the ALCS, Pluto calls the Blue Jays a “strange” team, in that not many believed Toronto would get this far. The Plain Dealer writer said the strength of the Blue Jays was not necessarily their power hitting, but their pitching, which had a lower ERA than the Indians.

AUDIO Carlos Baerga, Sammy B Talking Tribe

One of the former Indians who was a key part of those thrilling teams from the mid 1990's spoke about the current team's gritty nature and quiet determination as they head toward the ALCS.

Former second baseman, Cleveland Indians Hall of Famer Carlos Baerga spoke with Sammy B to talk about the Indians sweeping Boston in Fenway and what they will need to do against Toronto.

He was pleasantly surprised to see the Tribe go into a tough place against a good baseball team and get the job done.

"When you have as many weapons as the Boston Red Sox have, you will have your hands full, especially not having twoof their best pitchers, Carrasco and Salazar," Baerga said.

"Our team stepped up,  Terry Francona  did a great job with the lineup, and that's why I believe the Cleveland Indians are doing what they're doing right now."
