More Heroin Hijinks At Green Super 8

Summit Deputies arrested three people out of a Green motel fight that had it all -- sex, drugs and duking it out. Two of those arrrested a pimp and prostitute; she'd called her dad for help after a fight, then the two men got into a fight. Cops say they also found heroin.

The fight is just the latest episode at the same hotel where 16-year old Andrew Frye died last year of a heroin overdose from a supply provided by family members, including his grandmother and mother.

Arrested where 23-year old Brandon Roberts, who was injured in the fight in the lobby of the Super 8 Motel on Corporate Woods Parkway. Roberts is charged with promoting prostitution and possession of heroin. He's been booked into the Summit County Jail after being treated for injuries after a fight with 45-year old David Jones of Akron, who'd been called to the motel by his daughter, 20-year old Katie Jones.

The elder Jones was charged with felonious assault while she was charged with heroin possession. They were also booked into the Summit County Jail.

(Summit Sheriff) On January 16, 2017, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motel in the city of Green in response to a fight that was occurring in the lobby. When the deputies arrived, a 23 year old man, identified as Brandon P. Roberts, had been injured in the altercation. Roberts was transported to Akron City Hospital by the Green Fire Department. The Summit County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau responded to investigate the incident.

Detectives found that prior to the fight, patrons of the motel, Brandon Roberts and Katie Jones, had been involved in a verbal altercation. Jones contacted her father, David Jones to come pick her up from the motel. When her father arrived, David Jones and Brandon Roberts got into a physical altercation. The investigation further revealed that Katie Jones and had been engaging in prostitution at the motel with the assistance of Brandon Roberts. They were also found to be in possession of heroin.

On January 16, 2017, David J. Jones, age 45 of Akron was arrested and charged with Felonious Assault (F-2) and Katie M. Jones, age 20 of Akron was arrested and charged with Possession of Drugs – Heroin (F-5). They were booked into the Summit County Jail.

On January 19, 2017, Brandon P. Roberts, age 23 of Akron was arrested and charged with Promoting Prostitution (F-3) and Possession of Drugs – Heroin (F-5). He was booked into the Summit County Jail.

Frye Family Heroin Supplier Sentenced

The man who supplied the heroin that killed 16 year-old Andrew Frye in a Green hotel room has been sentenced for heroin possession.

59 year-old Donald Callaghan, the boyfriend of Andrew's grandmother Brenda, will spend six months in the Glenwood Jail and two years under community control.

Brenda Frye tried to buy heroin from Callaghan, and took it herself after he passed out and gave it to her daughter, Heather Frye...Andrew's mother.

Brenda and Heather Frye have been sentenced to nine years in prison.

(Summit County Prosecutor's Office, news release) Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Lynne Callahan sentenced Donald Callaghan, 59, of Neville Avenue in Akron, to six months in the Summit County Glenwood facility and two years Community Control. Callaghan was also ordered to be assessed for drug treatment.

On September 12, 2016, Callaghan pled guilty to the following charge:

Possession of Heroin – a felony of the 5th degree

Summit County Law Enforcement conducted a search of Callaghan's home following the death of 16-year-old Andrew Frye on April 6, 2016. Frye died in a Green motel room after taking heroin obtained by his grandmother, 52-year-old Brenda Frye.

Brenda Frye was Callaghan's girlfriend at the time of Andrew's death and arranged to purchase heroin from Callaghan. However, Callaghan was passed out from substance use and was unable to provide the heroin to Brenda. Brenda knew the location of the heroin and completed the transaction. Brenda then gave the drugs to her daughter Heather. Brenda and Heather are both currently serving nine year prison sentences after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in connection with Andrew's death.

The mother and grandmother of the 16 year-old who died of a heroin overdose have been sentenced.

Judge Lynne Callahan ordered the mother, Heather Frye, and the grandmother, Brenda Frye, to spend 9 years each in prison for involuntary manslaughter.

During sentencing, Judge Callahan said that Heather Frye knew what she and her mother did to her son, Andrew Frye.

"You know the cycle that you've grown up in, at yet you're there in the hotel room having your son in the same cycle," Judge Callahan told Heather Frye.

Judge Callahan told Brenda Frye that she's just as responsible as her daughter

"You are every bit as culpable as your daughter. Every bit as culpable. There's not one thing you did that makes you less culpable," Judge Callahan said.

Both pled guilty to the charges against them, for their involvement with the death of Andrew in a Green hotel room back in April.

Guilty Pleas In Teen's Heroin Death

The mother and grandmother of a teen found dead of a heroin overdose, and another woman, have pled guilty in his death.

The Summit County Prosecutor's Office says 32 year-old Heather Frye, 52 year-old Brenda Frye and a family friend, 35 year-old Jessica Irons, pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges.

16 year-old Andrew Frye was found dead in a Green hotel room in April after injecting heroin.

Investigators say Frye's mother, grandmother and Irons were all in the hotel room before Andrew died.

They say the heroin came from Brenda Frye's boyfriend, Donald Callaghan...who faces a heroin possession charge in a trial scheduled for September 12th.

Heather and Brenda Frye, and Jessica Irons, are set for sentencing on October 12th.

Tampering with Evidence – a felony of the 3rd degree

Brenda Frye, 52, of Neville Avenue in Akron, pled guilty to the following charges:

Involuntary Manslaughter – a felony of the 1st degree
Trafficking in Heroin – a felony of the 4th degree

Jessica Irons, 35, of Merria Road in Stow, pled guilty to the following charges:

Involuntary Manslaughter – a felony of the 3rd degree
Tampering with Evidence – a felony of the 3rd degree

On April 6, 2016, 16-year-old Andrew Frye was found dead at a hotel room in Green, Ohio. The Summit County Medical Examiner determined the teen died from injecting heroin. Investigators discovered Frye's mother Heather, her friend Jessica Irons, and Heather Frye's mother Brenda Frye (Andrew's Grandmother) were all in the hotel room prior to Andrew's death. As part of their investigation, Summit County Sheriff's Deputies discovered the heroin Andrew used was obtained by Brenda Frye from her boyfriend Donald Callaghan. Brenda sold the heroin to Andrew's mother Heather while Andrew was present.

Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Lynne Callahan is scheduled to sentence all three defendants on October 12, 2016 at 1pm.

The fourth defendant charged in the case, Donald Callaghan, is scheduled to go on trial on one count of possession of heroin on Monday, September 12, 2016 in front of Judge Callahan.

Indictment In Teen Heroin Death In Green

The mother, grandmother, and two others charged in the heroin death of a 16-year-old have officially been indicted.

A Summit County Grand Jury handed down the indictment against four people includingmother Heather Frye, 31, grandmother Brenda Frye, 52, both of Akron, and Jessica Irons, 34, of Stow.

The three are facing several charges including involuntary manslaughter in the death of 16-year-old Andrew Frye who was found dead at a hotel room in Green on April 6th. Police say all three were in the hotel room prior to Andrew's death.

Authorities also discovered that the heroin Andrew used was obtained from the grandmother boyfriend, Donald Callaghan, 58, of Akron. He has been charged with possession of heroin.

All four are scheduled to be arraigned on May 4.

Mother, Grandmother Charged In Teen's Death

The mother and grandmother of the 16-year-old boy who was found dead inside a hotel room in Green are facing charges in the teen's suspected heroin overdose death.

Summit County Sheriff Steve Barry says Andrew Frye's mother, Heather Frye, and grandmother, Brenda Frye, are each facing an involuntary manslaughter charge.

Heather's son, Andrew, was found dead in the Super 8 hotel room Wednesday night. Preliminary results show that the 16-year-old had heroin in his system, although further tests are needed for confirmation to see if fentanyl also played a role.

Andrew, his mother, and his mother's friend, Jessica Irons, were staying the night at the hotel. Deputies say Andrew's mother told police she wanted to be "the fun weekend mom."

Irons is also facing a pair of charges including tampering with evidence and possesion of drugs. Another person has also been charged with possession of drugs.

Heather is also charged with child endangering and tampering with evidence and Brenda is also facing corruption and trafficking in drugs charges.
