AUDIO Spanberg: Charlotte Loses NBA ASG

The city of Charlotte has lost the 2017 NBA All-Star Game due to a state law affecting the LGBT community.

Erik Spanberg from Charlotte Business Journal joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about the fact the city lost the game and the chance that they might have another opportunity to host the annual NBA showcase.

 He talked about the immediate reaction from the city and folks surrounding the news when it came down earlier this week.

"It's not suprising, but it's a disappointment for everyone here in Charlotte."

The game could possibly be relocated to New Orleans for the 2016-17 basketball season.

Summit County Executive Russ Pry has banned all official county government travel to North Carolina in response to the state's controversial "Bathroom Bill."

North Carolina House Bill 2 includes provisions that require people to use the public restroom that corresponds with their biological sex and that supercede non-discrimination laws passed by municipalities. Opponents of the bill, including Pry, contend the bill discriminates against the LGBT community.
