Fatal Crash Causes Major Delays on Turnpike

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is still investigating, but have confirmed that at least one person was killed in an accident along I-80 Eastbound in Richfield Tuesday morning. 

According to the report, just about 9 a.m. a multi-vehicle happened in the eastbound lanes at State Route 8. 

As of noon all lanes on the eastbound side of the highway were closed and all but one lane of I-80 Westbound were closed causing major delays all morning. 

Another accident nearby along State Route 8, the southbound lanes were closed due to an accident near Rt. 303. 

Along I-77 Southbound at 241 an accident left one lane closed late morning.

Man Killed in Thursday Morning Crash

The Summit County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly crash along East Turkeyfoot Lake Road in the City of Green Thursday morning. 

According to the Sheriff's report, around 7:30 a.m., a 71-year-old man driving a yellow Corvette eastbound on East Turkeyfoot collided with a tractor trailer that was waiting to turn into a gas station, and then hit another car. 

The driver of the Corvette, a 71-year-old resident of Green, was transported to Summa Akron City Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Neither the driver of the truck nor the driver of the Civic were injured. 

East Turkeyfoot Lake Road was closed for roughly three hours after the accident Thursday morning. 

Investigators with the Sheriff's Office do not suspect that alcohol played a factor in the accident.

Fatal Crash Under Investigation

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office and Akron police are investigating a crash that left one person dead in Akron Thursday afternoon.

The Medical Examiner's office reports the crash happened at the intersection of Russell and East Avenue around 4 p.m.

The vehicle reportedly crossed the intersection at East Avenue and went airborne, crossed over the center lane and struck a vehicle, utility pole, and then another vehicle.

The driver was ejected from the car and was later pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has yet to be released.
