SCSO Looking For Sneaker Green Sneaker Thief

The Summit County Sheriff's Office is looking for an armed robbery suspect they say held up a group of people who were meeting him to sell a pair of shoes. 

According to the report, back on November 1st, the Cordon Harris, 19, met an acquaintance and four other people to buy a pair of sneakers in the City of Green. When the group pulled up, Harris pulled a gun and demanded the shoes and whatever cash anyone was holding. He only got 10 dollars before fleeing the scene. 

The Sheriff's Office has obtained a warrant charging Harris with five counts of Aggravated Robbery and one count of Felonious Assault, as he allegedly hit one of the victims in the face. 

Harris is listed at 6'3", about 230 pounds and may be driving a 2002 Honda Civic.

Akron Man Shot in the Foot During Argument

Akron Police responded to Oakdale Avenue on a call of a man who was shot around 1 o'clock Monday afternoon.

There, they found the victim, a 23-year-old man, with a gunshot wound to the foot. He was taken to Cleveland Clinic akron General with non-life threatening injuries. 

According to the APD report, the victim and suspect were arguing over a woman when the suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Jermarray C. Morrow (pitcured) of North Arlington St. in Akron, pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the foot. 

An arrest warrant for felonious assault has been issued for Morrow, who police say should be considered armed and dangerous. 

He's listed at 6 feet, 5 inches tall, 300 pounds.

Akron Man Fired Shots at Women Outside Bar

Kevin Cook of Akron has been charged with felonious assault after police say he fired several shots at two women outside of the Northside Tavern on North Howard Street Friday night. 

According to reports, the altercation started inside of the bar and then spilled out into the parking lot. The two women tell police that Cook would not let them leave and then chased them outside. 

One of the victims tells police that as she was trying to drive away, Cook fired several shots, some that hit her car. She then got out of the car and ran away. 

Cook was arrested late Sunday night at his Kenmore home, and is currently being held in the Summit County Jail on several charges, including felonious assault.

Man Assaults Roommate Over TV Volume

Akron Police were called to a home in the 500 block of East South Street, Monday night around 11:30, on a report of a man who was assaulted by his roommate. 

When officers arrived, they found the 59-year-old victim who had been hit in the head with a wrench, allegedly by his roommate, 56-year-old Gary J. Thompson. 

The victim was transported by EMS to Akron City Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the police report. 

Thompson, meanwhile, has been booked into the Summit County Jail on charges of felonious assault. Included in the report was that Thompson attacked his roommate over the volume of the television.

APD Looking for Akron Shooting Suspect

Early Saturday afternoon, Akron Police were called to the 900 block of Baughman Street on a report of a fight between two women, reportedly over a man.

According to the police report, the man that the two women were arguing over, identified as 24-year-old Shaquille L. Jones of Nesbitt Avenue (pictured), pulled a gun, pointed it at one of the females, and threatened to shoot her. That female victim fled the scene, followed shortly after by the second female.

Later that night, around 10:30, police say Jones was identified as the suspect who shot an 18-year-old man in the head and chest on Orrin Street. That victim was taken to Akron General, his status is unknown. Meanwhile, a warrant has been issued for Jones.

An Akron man is under arrest, facing multiple felony charges, after Akron Police say he held his girlfriend against her will and threatened her life. 

According to the APD report, police were called to the home at 26 West Dalton Avenue around 9 a.m. Tuesday. As officers pulled up to the home, they noticed 56-year-old Leon J. Newsome on the porch and a woman running from the home. That's when Newsome reportedly ran back into the home and locked the door. 

The female, who is believed to be Newsome's girlfriend, told Police that Newsome had held her against her will all night, that he had a gun and that he held the gun to her head and pulled the trigger... For some reason, Police say, the gun did not fire, sparing the woman's life. 

S.W.A.T. was called to the home and after a short time Newsome surrendured without further incident. He's being held in Summit County Jail on charges of felonious assault, aggravated menacing, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, assault, having weapons while under disability, and menacing.

Employee Stabs Coworker in Easter Altercation

On Easter Sunday, Streetsboro Police received a call from the Gardens of Western Reserve Assisted Living at 9975 Greentree Parkway, that claimed an employee had stabbed another employee. The call cut off, but when officers responded, they found a 19-year-old female with severe cuts. 

Witnesses told police that the suspect, 19-year-old Emilie Brunswick of Ravenna, had fled the scene. The victim was transported to University Hospital Portage Medical Campus in Ravenna and police went to go look for Brunswick, who was later found at a relative's home in Aurora, with the help of the Portage County Sheriff's Department. She was placed under arrest for Felonious Assault. 

The victim, whose name wasn't released, was treated and released from the hospital two days after the incident, but police say she will require follow-up care. 

The report added that no patients nor residents of Gardens of Western Reserve were in danger at any time.

Argument Between Two Men, Woman Leads to Shooting

We have an update on the shooting in Akron's West Hill neighborhood this morning.

According to the report, just before 5 this morning Akron Police responded to the 300 block of Gold Street near Nickel, on a call about a shooting.

There were two male victims that were shot; one in the head, the other in the arm. The first victim is at Akron General in Critical Condition, while the second was taken to Akron City Hospital and is in serious condition. A short time later, Akron Police arrested Hedy Moss, 49, who fled the scene after the shooting, and charged her with two counts felonious assault.

She's in Summit County Jail.

The victims' names have not been released, pending the notification of their families.

Woman Bites Victim's Finger Off During Fight

Akron Police say the fight between two Akron women was over a man... and it got ugly! 

According to the APD report, 36-year-old Dateika Jackson was visiting her ex-boyfriend on Bellevue Avenue near Diagonal Road when the man's current girlfriend came home. 

The two women started arguing and during the fight Jackson allegedly bit the tip of the 35-year-old woman's finger off. The victim was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Meanwhile, APD is still looking for Jackson who they say fled the scene. They've issued a warrant for felonious assault. 

Anyone with information on Jackson's whereabouts is asked to contact the Akron Police Department's detective bureau at 330-375-2490.

Police Looking for Springfield Township Man

UPDATE Police arrested Marock Wednesday evening.

Springfield Township Police are looking for 55-year-old John Michael Marock. A warrant has been issued for Marock on on assault, robbery, burglary, and violation of a protection order charges. He's a white male, 6'2", 200 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and a black goatee. Police believe he may be in the Akron area and are asking to keep a look out and call 911 if you see him.

Akron Shooting Suspect Still Loose

Akron Police are looking for help for a suspect they say punched and then shot a man he was arguing with Saturday morning. 

It happened around 2 a.m. inside a home on West Crosier St. According to the police report, John R. Meeks, 28, was involved in an argument with the 41-year-old victim. It turned physical and Meeks allegedly punched the victim in the face. Then, police say, Meeks pulled out a handgun and shot the victim "several times" in the abdomen. Meeks then fled the season. 

The victim was later transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital with potential life-threatening injuries. There's been no update on the victim's status. 

Meeks is charged with aggravated robbery and felonious assault. Anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to not approach him and to call 911 immediately.

Parents In Court, Charged With Daughter's Murder

The parents of Ashley Zhao made their first appearance in Massillon Municipal Court Wednesday morning for arraignment. 

The charges listed by Judge Edward Elum were First Degree Murder and Felonious Assault for Mingming Chen, mother of Ashley, and Complicity to First Degree Murder and Complicity to Felonious Assault for Liang Zhou, the father of Ashley.

Both Chen and Zhou are scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on the morning of January 19th. No pleas have been entered at this time, and both parents have been appointed separate public attorneys.

Teen Sentenced For Burning Daughter

Demetrius Ford, 18, of Akron has been sentenced to 8 years in prison for burning his four-month-old daughter. 

Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announcing the sentence Tuesday, saying, "This innocent child suffered significant, painful injuries. She will have to deal with the physical and emotional scars for the rest of her life." The child suffered multiple broken ribs and a skull fracture in addition to third degree burns. 

Court reports indicate the child suffered the injuries while Ford was giving the young girl a bath. The girl's mother, 21-year-old Chavelle Grier was also charged in the case. Back in May Grier pled guilty to two counts of Child Endangering. She's currently serving probation. Ford was found guilty for Felonious assault and two counts of Child Endangering.

APD Looking For Felonious Assault Suspect

Akron Police are looking for the public's help in finding the suspect in a shooting near the University of Akron main Campus. 

It happened back on September 7, 2016, in the 200 block of Power St. near Rentschler St. One person was shot. The victim was not a University of Akron student, police say. As you see on the police surveillance video below, three men are shown. All three men were described to police by witnesses, but those witnesses say the man in the blue hooded sweatshirt was the shooter. An alert issued by the University stated that the three men fled the scene in a silver car that went north on Rentschler St.  

Anyone with any information is asked to call Sergeant Forney with the Akron Police Department at 330-375-2490. The suspect is to be considered armed and dangerous.

APD Officer Dragged, Police Catch Fleeing Driver

A man spotted at an after hours club late Friday ended up trying to elude Akron police numerous time, with an APD officer dragged a couple of blocks trying to stop the man.

Officers tried to stop a car after they saw it trying to avoid the cruiser at a South Arlington after hours crowd.

The car eventually stopped on Sylvan Avenue after the cruiser flipped on its lights and siren.

But that wasn't the end - APD says the driver got the car into gear even while an officer was trying to stop that, holding onto the gear shift and the driver...the officer was dragged a few blocks before he let go.

Police found the vehicle crashed on Davies Avenue, and the driver tried to get away again.

Even after being found in the backyard of a Georgia Avenue house, the man struggled with officers, who found a small baggy of marijuana in his pants pocket.

29 year-old Demardre Johnson of 9th Avenue not only faces charges of felonious assault, resisting arrest and pot possession.

Police say he had an outstanding warrant for burglary, drugs and damaging and endangering.

The eight year veteran officer was treated and released. Johnson was treated for minor injuries onscene, and is now in the Summit County Jail
