MLB.com reporter for the Cleveland Indians Jordan Bastian asessed the Cleveland Indians during the Sam and Brad Show Wednesday.

He talked about the team's dreadful loss to the Cubs yesterday.

The Tribe and the Cubs will go at 7:10pm tonight in downtown Cleveland.

After the Indians' tough loss last night in Oakland, Sammy B and Jordan Bastian, Tribe reporter for MLB.com spoke Wednesday.

 Jordan spoke with us to talk about what's been going on with starting pitcher Danny Salazar, as well as what the Tribe has to do in order to defeat the A's this afternoon.

Despite the loss last night, the Indians are still leading Detroit the AL Central. The Tribe will wrap up their series with Oakland today before going to Arlington to take on the Texas Rangers. 

Are the Indians a contender or a pretender as they approach Monday's trade deadline? Can they solidify themselves as a player in the AL Central division and make a deep postseason run?

Jordan Bastian, Indians reporter for MLB.com answered these questions and more with Sam Bourquin Thursday. 

He seems to think they're a contender.

"I think they would be great if they got their foot on the gas and made a move before the trade deadline (Monday)," he said.  The Tribe is currently in first place in the AL Central and could be looking for some bullpen help or another catcher.

The Indians have the day off today before starting a three-game set with the Oakland A's  at Progressive Field.
