The man accused of killing a Canton police dog during a burglary will be held behind bars after he gets out of the hospital.
Bond was set at 5-million dollars for 22 year-old Kelontre Barefield, who faces charges now including aggravated burglarly and assaulting or harrasing a police dog, along with other felonious assault and weapons charges.
Canton police say that list may not be the final list of charges.
K-9 Jethro responded with human officers to a burglary call at a Harrison Avenue SW store.
Police say Barefield shot Jethro three times, before officers returned fire.
