One of Ohio's biggest rivialry football games between two of Stark County's most well-known teams is going to be brought to life in the form of a documentary to showcase just how intense the rivalry is.

Ted Bowersox, the Executive Producer of the documentary'Timeless Rivals' joined Sammy B to talk about the Massillon/McKinley rivalry and how he gathered the interviews and footage from past games to make one of the most talked about games of the year into something special for many generations of Bulldogs and Tigers.

"This will be like E:60, 30 for 30, something along those lines where we'll have B-roll of games and interviews with coaches like Earle Bruce and Thom McDaniels," said Bowersox. "It's foing to be really special."

For Bowersox, who grew up in Canton and whose father was a McKinley football historian, it was truly a labor of love.

"All the coaches and people we interviewed did a great job and they were really professional, he explained.

Bowersox along with filmmaking partner for 'Timeless Rivals' Dave Jingo have been looking to do this documentary for several years now and started filming on April 28.   They are looking to have it released in 2017.

The Massillon Tigers have a new head boys' basketball coach, and he says he's learned a lot in his previous stops on his journey to TigerTown.

Michael Cruz, the new head man for the Tigers joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about what he looks to bring to western Stark County, and some of the great mentors he's had in coaching that got him to this point.

Coach Cruz says he's ready to hit the hardwood.

"I'm very excited and very honored for the opportunity," Cruz said. "I got a chance to talk to the players yesterday, and I'm ready to get on the court and get to work."

Cruz came from Garfield Heights High School,  where he worked under Sonny Johnson, one of the better high school coaches in the Cleveland area.

Cruz, 30, has also had stops at Lorain County Community College, UNC-Charlotte, Colerain HS, and most recently Garfield Heights.

He says he learned a lot at Colerain about the high school game and relating to the players.

"It taught me to be patient, it taught me a lot from a schematic standpoint," he said. "I truly believe I was meant to be at Massillon, and I'm just really excited to get started."

AUDIO Tigers and Bulldogs Renew Rivalry

The War of 1894 will be taking place yet again at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, and with the Massillon Tigers and McKinley Bulldogs getting ready to tussle, both coaches expect to see 100% effort from their young men Saturday afternoon.

Nate Moore, the head coach of the Tigers joined 1590 WAKR to talk about the rivalry, his team battling through adversity throughout the season, and what it's going to take to stop McKinley's playmakers.

Moore said that by containing McKinley dual-threat QB Dominique Robinson and limiting touches for other Bulldog playmakers, the Tigers should be alright.

"The quarterback is a good athlete, he has a good arm, so we have to stay disciplined defensively," he said.

For McKinley, head coach Dan Reardon says his team is playing good football and will have to maintain focus in a rivalry game and not let the emotion surrounding it cloud them from executing.
