No Charges after Akron Fright Fest Investigation

Springfield Township Police say no charges will be filed after the investigation into the "Akron Fright Fest."

The report (below) called the actions of some of the actors at the haunted house "inadvisable," but concluded that there was no physical evidence to prove a crime had actually been committed.

That said, there has been no update on the lawsuit that was filed by an Akron couple who claimed they were physically injured at the Fright Fest, and that one of them was subjected to a "mock rape" scene.

(SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP PD) In October the Springfield Township Police Department was tasked with investigating criminal claims in connection with the "Akron Fright Fest" haunted houses.

After a thorough investigation, several interviews, and discussions with prosecutors, it was determined that no charges would be filed in the cases.

There is no doubt that the actors of the haunted house used poor judgement in their use of body and spoken language during Akron Fright Fest.  Although their actions were inadvisable, there was no physical evidence to substantiate allegations of a crime being committed.

All parties involved in this investigation were contacted and advised of these findings.
