The Summit County Sheriff's Office has announced felony charges against 28-year-old Dean Davis of Green who is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 4-year-old boy in the boy's mother's home that was caught on a home surveillance camera.

Inspector Bill Holland added in a press release Tuesday that the boy's mother, 31-year-old Samantha Ward, who has three other children, was aware of the incident and didn't report it.

Green has been booked on Gross Sexual Imposition and other charges, while Ward, who is alleged to have been taking medications prescribed to her other children, is charged with endangering children and theft of drugs.

Additional charges are pending further investigation, according to Holland.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office was contacted in regards to an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the city of Green. An investigation was initiated by the Sheriff’s Detective Bureau. It was reported that a household surveillance camera captured the assault on video. The alleged victim of the sexual assault was a 4 year old male. The child’s mother was supposedly aware of the incident, but failed to report it. The above victim and three other children were interviewed and subsequently turned over to Summit County Children’s Services.

The investigation revealed that the individual depicted in the video was Dean A. Davis. Davis was arrested and charged with Gross Sexual Imposition (F-3), Sexual Imposition (M-3), and Endangering Children (M-1). Further charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. Davis, age 28 of Green, was transported to the Summit County Jail.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the mother of the four children, Samantha Ward, created a substantial risk to the health and safety of her children. It was also believed that she was consuming medication that belonged to her children. Samantha L. Ward, age 31 of Green, was arrested and charged with Endangering Children (M-1) and Theft of Drugs (F-5). Additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. Back on September 1st, 2017, Summit County Jail inmate Anthony L. Jones was involved in an altercation with two Sheriff's deputies at the jail. The following day, Jones died in the jail's hospital. 

Shortly after Jones' death, the Summit County Sheriff Steve Barry requested an investigation into the incident, and requested that Stark County investigators conduct the investigation, to avoid any conflict of interest. 

On Monday, the Summit County Sheriff's Office released the following statement regarding that investigation: 

In September of 2017, Summit County Sheriff Steve Barry requested the Stark County Sheriff’s
Office to investigate the death of Mr. Anthony L. Jones due to Mr. Jones’ death occurring while
Mr. Jones was incarcerated at the Summit County Jail. Summit County Medical Examiner, Dr.
Lisa Kohler, performed an autopsy on the deceased and the results of the autopsy were signed
and released on February 22, 2018. According to this documentation the cause of death was
Hypoxic/ischemic encephalopathy due to cardiac arrest of uncertain etiology. The manner of
death is listed as UNDETERMINED: Cardiac arrest during active restraint while in custody.
It should be noted how the autopsy does also reflect the following Accessory diagnosis: Clinical
history of schizophrenia, pulmonary emphysema, and Focal moderate atherosclerotic
cardiovascular disease. Further, Mr. Jones had been admitted to Akron General Hospital in 2016
for acute encephalopathy, respiratory failure, rhabdomyolysis, kidney failure, substance abuse
disorder, and hypokalemia. The investigation was completed by the Stark County Sheriff’s
Office and then turned over to the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office for review. We have now
received correspondence from the Stark County Prosecuting Attorney, Mr. John D. Ferrero, that,
his office has reviewed the investigation into the death of Mr. Anthony Jones. Prosecutor Ferrero
explains how documents from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office investigation, were all reviewed,
as well as the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office documents, including the Medical
Examiner’s Report of Autopsy. The Prosecutor ends his communication with, “Based upon our
review of the case, probable cause does not exist for charging criminal liability with respect to
Mr. Jones’ death. Accordingly, we do not believe this matter merits presentation to the Summit
County Grand Jury.” From everything submitted, it has been concluded Mr. Jones suffered
cardiac arrest due to unknown medical origin during this tragic and unfortunate incident.

Stark County Prosecutor’s Office for their professional assistance and thorough investigation and
offers its true condolences to Mr. Jones’ family.

Summit County deputies looking for a man who claimed he had a weapon when he stuck up the Subway restaurant on Massillon Road in Green. He got away with cash; witnesses and surveillance photos showed him wearing a cap with a "John Deere" patch and a white Ford F-150 pickup.

(Summit Sheriff) On Monday, September 25, at approximately 8:22 p.m., a man entered the Subway restaurant located at 3471 Massillon Road in the City of Green and handed the cashier a note. The note indicated the man had a weapon and it went on to instruct the employees to give him cash or they would be harmed.

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. One of the employees subsequently called 911 and the Summit County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20's, bewteen 5'10 and 6'0. The suspect had long red sideburns. He was wearing flip flop style shoes, blue jeans, a gray long-sleeved hooded pull-over shirt, and a baseball hat (dark colored hat with green/yellow "John Deere" patch). The suspect may have fled in a white Ford F-150 truck with a white cap.

Police now report it was a 47-year old man from Washington State killed in a three-vehicle wreck on Route 8 in Boston Heights yesterday; his name has not yet been released. The injured were taken to all three Akron hospitals.

A motorhome driven by a man from Pennsylvania hit a Honda minivan holding eight people; the Honda then hit a Dodge minivan with one person inside.

Police say neither speed nor alcohol were factors.

(Summit County Sheriff) On Thursday, July 20, 2017, at approximately 3:50 p.m., the Summit County Sheriff's Office and Boston Heights Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 8 in Boston Heights. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of Route 8 the near the I80/Turnpike exit lane.

An American Coach motorhome driven by a man from Pennsylvania struck two vehicles that were stopped on the exit ramp to I80. The motorhome initially struck a Honda Odyssey with 8 passengers. The Honda subsequently struck a Dodge Caravan with one passenger. Several fire departments responded to the scene including Hudson, Stow, Macedonia, Northfield Village, and the Valley Fire District.

The driver of the Honda Odyssey, a 47 year old male from the state of Washington was pronounced dead at the scene. Other individuals involved in the crash were transported to Akron General, Akron City, and Akron Children's Hospital. Two lanes of the roadway were closed for approximately 3 hours. The crash remains under investigation by the Summit Metro Crash Response Team. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

If any witnesses of the crash have information regarding the incident, they should contact the Summit County Sheriff's Office or Boston Heights Police Department.

A Summit County sheriff's deputy is facing charges he raped a 26-year old Akron woman.

Prosecutors say 46-year old Antonio Williamson was indicted on rape, kidnapping, sexual battery and gross sexual imposition charges, all felonies. He turned himself in to authorities this morning and will be arraigned tomorrow.

(Summit County Prosecutor) Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that a Summit County Grand Jury handed up an indictment against 46-year-old Antonio Williamson on charges he sexually assaulted a 26-year-old woman. Williamson is a deputy with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

The Grand Jury indicted Williamson on the following charges:

- Rape – a felony of the 1st degree
- Kidnapping – a felony 1st degree
- Two Counts of Sexual Battery – felonies of the 3rd degree
- Gross Sexual Imposition – a felony 4th degree

An investigation was conducted by the Akron Police Department with cooperation of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office into the allegations.Williamson turned himself in to authorities this morning and is scheduled to be arraigned in Summit County Common Pleas Court on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 8am.

Summit County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a Coventry Township woman who allegedly abused her friend's baby while she was watching her. 

The incident occured back in May, when Audrey D. Hunt, 35, offered to watch her friend's 10-month-old child on May 2nd. The mother agreed, willfully allowing Hunt to take the baby to her Coventry Township home. Hours later, the mother called Hunt so that she could have her baby brought back home. Hunt refused, saying she would bring the baby back the next day. 

On May 3rd, the mother got a ride to Hunt's home. That's when she noticed injuries to the baby's face and arms. She took the baby to Akron Children's Hospital, where hospital staff determined that the baby's injuries were consistant with abuse. The Summit County Sheriff's Department Detectives began their investigation. 

On Tuesday, June 20, Hunt was arrested and charged with Felony Interference with Custody, Misdemeanor Child Endangering, and Misdemeanor Assault. She's currently being held in Summit County Jail. 

Summit County deputies say it was a 52-year old woman killed in a crash on I-271 in Northfield Township yesterday morning. She was in a 2012 Toyota Corolla that hit a construction trailer that was being unloaded on the berm as she was heading south on the freeway.

She wasn't wearing a seat belt and speed appears to be a factor.

(Summit Sheriff) On Wednesday, May 17th, 2017, at approximately 7:15 a.m., the Summit County Sheriff's Office responded to a crash in Northfield Center Township. The crash occurred on Interstate 271 south at the 16.5 mile marker.

The Summit Metro Crash Team responded to investigate the crash. A 2012 Toyota Corolla driven by a 52 year old female was traveling south and subsequently exited the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a construction equipment trailer that was being unloaded on the right berm. The female was pronounced dead on scene from the injuries sustained in the crash. One lane of Interstate 271 south was closed for approximately three hours.

The driver of the Toyota was not wearing a seatbelt. Speed appears to be a factor. The crash continues to be under investigation by the Summit Metro Crash Response Team

Summit Deputies arrested three people out of a Green motel fight that had it all -- sex, drugs and duking it out. Two of those arrrested a pimp and prostitute; she'd called her dad for help after a fight, then the two men got into a fight. Cops say they also found heroin.

The fight is just the latest episode at the same hotel where 16-year old Andrew Frye died last year of a heroin overdose from a supply provided by family members, including his grandmother and mother.

Arrested where 23-year old Brandon Roberts, who was injured in the fight in the lobby of the Super 8 Motel on Corporate Woods Parkway. Roberts is charged with promoting prostitution and possession of heroin. He's been booked into the Summit County Jail after being treated for injuries after a fight with 45-year old David Jones of Akron, who'd been called to the motel by his daughter, 20-year old Katie Jones.

The elder Jones was charged with felonious assault while she was charged with heroin possession. They were also booked into the Summit County Jail.

(Summit Sheriff) On January 16, 2017, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motel in the city of Green in response to a fight that was occurring in the lobby. When the deputies arrived, a 23 year old man, identified as Brandon P. Roberts, had been injured in the altercation. Roberts was transported to Akron City Hospital by the Green Fire Department. The Summit County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau responded to investigate the incident.

Detectives found that prior to the fight, patrons of the motel, Brandon Roberts and Katie Jones, had been involved in a verbal altercation. Jones contacted her father, David Jones to come pick her up from the motel. When her father arrived, David Jones and Brandon Roberts got into a physical altercation. The investigation further revealed that Katie Jones and had been engaging in prostitution at the motel with the assistance of Brandon Roberts. They were also found to be in possession of heroin.

On January 16, 2017, David J. Jones, age 45 of Akron was arrested and charged with Felonious Assault (F-2) and Katie M. Jones, age 20 of Akron was arrested and charged with Possession of Drugs – Heroin (F-5). They were booked into the Summit County Jail.

On January 19, 2017, Brandon P. Roberts, age 23 of Akron was arrested and charged with Promoting Prostitution (F-3) and Possession of Drugs – Heroin (F-5). He was booked into the Summit County Jail.

A Norton woman is facing felony charges for allegedly boosting her own bank account with more than $44,000 from an elderly relative. Summit County Sheriff's deputies investigated the case of an 85-year old woman who had turned over access to her bank account to 37-year old Shannon Shook of Norton. Shook was charged with taking the money for her own personal use and charged with Theft from the Elderly and booked into the Summit County Jail.

(Summit Sheriff) In December of 2016, the Summit County Sheriff's Office received information regarding an 85 year old female that had allegedly been financially exploited by a family member. It was alleged that the suspect had access to the victim's bank account and had been utilizing the victim's funds for her own personal gain since July of 2016.

An investigation was initiated by the Sheriff's Office. The investigation revealed that Shannon M. Shook had been withdrawing funds from the victim's bank account for her own personal use. To date, investigators estimate
that the suspect has stolen over $44,000 from the victim. 

On January 8, 2017, Shannon M. Shook, age 37 of Norton was arrested and charged with Theft from the Elderly (F-2). She was booked into the Summit County Jail.

An early morning Sunday hit-skip has Summit County deputies asking for help finding the driver of what's believed to be a Subaru Forrester who hit a man walking on South Main Street in Coventry Township.

The incident occured around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of North Turkeyfoot Road; the victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was not carrying identification with him at the time he was hit. The unidentified man was taken to Akron General Hospital and police are also asking for help identifying the man as well as the driver of the hit-ski.

(Summit Sheriff) On Sunday January 8, 2017, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the Summit County Sheriff's Office responded to a call that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle in the southbound lanes of South Main Street near North Turkeyfoot Road in Coventry Township. The Summit Metro Crash Response Team is currently investigating the crash.

The victim is described as a white male and he had no identification with him at the time of the crash. He was transported to Akron General Hospital with life threatening injuries. The vehicle involved is believed to be a 2010-2013 Subaru Forrester.

Anyone with any information regarding this crash, including the identity of the driver of the vehicle or the identity of the victim is asked to contact Sergeant Lee Hoskins at the Summit County Sheriff's Office at 330-643-2181.

Church should be the last place you'd expect to be ripped off, but for a 79 year old woman her visit to be closer to God left her a victim.

Deputies say the woman was in line, waiting for Communion at the Queen of Heaven Church in Green during a morning service last Thursday, and left her purse in the pew. When she came back it was gone.

Security cameras caught a white male described as balding, wearing a blue shirt and coat as a suspect; the same video also provided a fuzzy photos of a white female with "large build", brown hair wearing a plaid shirt and blue coat believed to be an accomplice.

Both fled in a Kia Optima and went to a nearby Acme and Dollar General and used the victim's credit cards to make more than a thousand dollars in purchases.

(Summit County Sheriff) On December 8, 2016, the Summit County Sheriff's Office responded to the Queen of Heaven Church in the City of Green in regards to an alleged theft. At approximately 8:30 a.m., two suspects stole a woman's purse while she was in line for Communion.

The victim, a 79 year old female, had left her purse unattended in the pew. The theft was captured on surveillance cameras. The first suspect is described as a white male, bald, medium build, with facial hair, wearing a blue shirt and a blue coat. The second suspect is described as a white female, large build, long brown hair, wearing a plaid shirt and a blue coat. 

The suspects fled in a black vehicle believed to be a late model Kia Optima. The suspects went to a local Acme and Dollar General and utilized the victim's credit cards to make over $1,000 in purchases. The victim's cell phone was recovered a short time later by authorities.  

An Akron couple face theft charges in what police say was the ripoff of more than $600,000 from an elederly victim over the past year.

Summit County Sheriff's Deputies say the thefts began on a 77-year old man's accounts in January of this year. 42-year old Kevin Story and 41-year old Crystal Jennacy Story were arrested and face felony charges. Police say the couple used the looted funs to buy a house, several vehicles and guns.

Both were booked into the Summit County Jail.

It has been reported that the victim was Kevin Story's father.

(Summit County Sheriff) In August of 2016, the Summit County Adult Protective Services received information regarding a 77 year old male that had allegedly been financially exploited by two individuals.

It was alleged that two suspects with access to the victim's bank account had been utilizing the victim's funds for their own personal gain since January of 2016. A representative from Adult Protective Services responded along with a Detective from the Summit County Sheriff's Office. An investigation was initiated by the Sheriff's detective assigned to Adult Protective Services. The investigation revealed that Kevin J. Story and Crystal J. Hennacy Story had been withdrawing funds from the victim's bank account for their own personal use.

To date, investigators estimate that the suspects have stolen over $600,000 from the victim. It was determined that the some of the stolen funds were used to purchase a house, several vehicles, including a motorcycle, and numerous guns.

On November 18, 2016, Kevin J. Story, age 42 of Akron and Crystal J Hennacy Story, age 41 of Akron were arrested and charged with Theft from the Elderly (F- 1). They were booked into the Summit County Jail. Additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office hopes some surveillance video helps them catch a burglar.

There have been several homes hit in the Green and Coventry Township areas recently, where someone forced open a door or window after checking the homes.

Jewelry, cell phones and other electronics were stolen.

(Summit County Sheriff's Office, news release) The Summit County Sheriff's Office is investigating several residential burglaries that have occurred within the City of Green and Coventry Township. These burglaries occurred during daytime and early evening hours. The suspect or suspects knocked on doors, checked the residence for occupants, and subsequently forced open a door or window. The suspect(s) has been entering the residences and stealing jewelry, cell phones, and other electronics.

On October 8, 2016, at approximately 7:51 p.m., a white male described as having short hair, approximately 6'0 in height, a heavy build, wearing black clothing and a black cap entered onto the front porch of a house in the City of Green. The suspect was captured on security footage as he entered onto the front porch and rang the front doorbell. The suspect momentarily left the front porch before returning and kicking the front door open. The suspect then entered the house and exited the through the front door a short time later.

The Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance in identifying the suspect captured on the home security camera footage. If anyone has information on the identity of this suspect, please contact the Summit County Sheriff's Office at 330-643-2131 or Crime Stoppers at 330-434-2677.

Summit County deputies are looking for some help finding one of two inmates who took off from the Glenwood Jail before the weekend. Sheriff's deputies say 26-year old Jason Shockley is still on the lam; 24-year old Daniel Perkins of Akron was picked up and faces escape charges. Both took off while helping load a truck on Friday while working as trustees.

(Summit County Sheriff) On Friday August 19, at approximately 3:45 p.m., two inmates escaped from the Glenwood Jail. The two inmates posed as trustees and assisted in carrying trays out to a van in the parking lot of the facility. When the inmates got to the van, they dropped the trays and ran toward Howard Street. The deputies on scene secured the other inmates and notified additional Sheriff's Office personnel.

The fleeing inmates were identified as Jason Shockley and Daniel Perkins. 

The Summit County Sheriff's Office dispatched deputies from the jail in an attempt to locate the inmates. Surrounding law enforcement agencies were also notified of the incident. 

Daniel Perkins, age 24 of Akron, was located and arrested for Escape. At this time, Jason Shockley, age 26 of Akron remains at large.
