Samand Brad headed out to Las Vegas to catch up with Ken Thomson of Sports X Radio in Sin City to talk about the legalities of sports betting in parts of the U.S and what it could mean for Ohio potentially.

Sam and Brad caught up with Brookledge Golf Club General Manager Scott Nickol to talk about his course for Tee It Up Friday.

Former Tallmadge head boys basketball coach Michael Bluey spoke with the Sam and Brad Show to talk about his new venture, coaching the boys basketball team at North Canton Hoover.

Bluey served as an an assistant at Jackson High School before becoming the head coach at Tallmadge. 

 "Opportunities like Hoover don't come around very often," Bluey said. 

 "It's a diamond in the rough,and I'm certainly excited to get started."

Former Marshall Thundering Herd and NFL Quarterback Chad Pennington spoke with Sam and Brad to talk about the advice he's given to Browns QB Baker Mayfield.

Chad spoke about the jump from college to the pros and that they have to be patient with themselves.

The City Series boys' baseball championship is set for 5pm at the University of Akron. 

Ellet head baseball coach John Sarver joined the Sam and Brad Show to talk about his ballclub.

 Firestone is ready for the matchup as well. Coach Jeff Sloan also joined the Sam and Brad Show to talk about his team as well.

Jackson head baseball coach Bill Gamble joined the Sam and Brad Show Tuesday to talk about the district final matchup between the Polar Bears and the Massillon Tigers at Thurman Munson Stadium this afternoon.

A very unpredictable spring has led to a brutal allergy season for many. Patients are desperate for relief, and many want to know the balance between under and overmedication. Two specialists from Cleveland Clinic/Akron General joined the Ray Horner Morning Show in the thick of allergy season. First, Dr. Tim Brown discussed the priciness of treatments and how and where to find them. Dr. Bela Faltay, an allergy specialist, talked about inexpensive over-the-counter remedies and allergy shots.

The second edition of Tee it Up Friday takes us to Chenoweth Golf Course as we speak with owner Brian Todd.

Todd says they take great pride in making sure the greens are well taken care of for people to play a challenging, yet fun course.

Chenoweth is located right off Arlington Road, just of I-77.

Longtime sports columnist for the Boston Globe Dan Shaughnessy spoke with Sam and Brad to talk about the upcoming series between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Tallmadge Blue Devils and coach Kenny Linn have captured another Division II sectional title after an 11-0 defeat of Canton South.

Coch Linn joined the Sam and Brad Show Thursday afternoon.

This week the 1590 WAKR Coaches Spotlight shines on Officer Howard Vaughn, the head coach of the Buchtel Griffins' baseball team. 

 Coach Vaughn discussed how he is bringing baseball to the youngsters and helping young people.

"I started in coaching six years ago and I saw a dying Buchtel baseball program, and I wanted to get it back started," he said. 

The Canton McKinley boys' basketball program has a new head coach. 

Andy Vlajkovich, who came over from Warren, will now be taking over the Pups. He spoke with Sam and Brad on Tuesday.

Newly named Executive Director of the Ohio High School Athletic Association spoke with Sam and Brad to talk about his position and what he plans on doing once Dr. Dan Ross steps away later in the year.

Cleveland Cavaliers TV play-by-play man for FOX Sports Ohio Fred McLeod joined the Sam and Brad Show to talk about the Cavaliers'  sweep over the Toronto Raptors last night at the Q.

The Wine and Gold await their opponent for the Eastern Conference Finals, either the Boston Celtics or Philadelphia 76ers.

"We're a very family oriented golf course," Andy explained. "It is 5300 yards with plenty of hills and water."

The Voice of the Browns Jim Donovan caught up with Sam and Brad today to talk about the 2018 draft class for John Dorsey, Hue Jackson and company.

This year's 2018 Male and Female Student Athletes of the Year are Tyler Dawson of Springfield High School and Lexi Shultz of Ellet High School.

This crop of athletes was honored at St. George's Fellowship Centre in Fairlawn during the Student Athlete of the Year Banquet.

Both Tyler and Lexi were humbled and honored to receive the $1,000 scholarships during the annual event.

Dawson plans on studying accounting at the University of Akron.

He says one of his favorite memories as a student athlete was playing with his fellow seniors, most of whom he has played with since he was 12 years old.

“I wouldn't change anything I did,” Dawson explained.

Tyler was a two-sport athlete, playing both football and basketball at Springfield High School.

Lexi Shultz, our second scholarship winner was a two-sport athlete playing both volleyball and softball for Ellet High School.

She says that she learned a lot of lessons throughout her time at Ellet, including those from Coach Chuck Shuman, her softball coach.

“The biggest thing I took from him was even when things get rough, just keep going, keep your head up,” she said.

 Shultz plans on studying Exercise Science at the University of Akron and becoming a physical therapist.

He talked about the team's dreadful loss to the Cubs yesterday.

The Tribe and the Cubs will go at 7:10pm tonight in downtown Cleveland. 

Longtime sportscaster and the radio voice of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Don Criqui spoke with Sam and Brad to talk Notre Dame offensive linemen Quenton Nelson and Mike McGlinchey for our Know Your Prospect segment.

He also talked a little Browns as well, offering his thoughts on what can get them turned around.

CBS Broadcaster Jim Nantz joined the Sam and Brad Show Monday afternoon to talk about being named the 2018 World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational Ambassador of Golf.

Nantz was truly humbled by the distinction, saying he truly enjoys coming to Akron's Firestone Country Club.

"Of all the awards I've received in my life, this one really stands out."  Nantz explained.

Nantz will recieve the Ambassador of Golf award  Wednesday August 1 at Firestone's South Course. 

Former Ohio State Buckeye and NFL player Ray Ellis spoke with Sam and Brad to talk about the death of his former coach Earle Bruce.

Bruce passed away at the age of 87 and coached the Buckeyes from 1979-1987.

EL Pitcher of the Week for your Akron Rubberducks Shane Beiber joined the Sam and Brad Show to talk about his hot start to the season.

Tom Withers of the Associated Press joined Sam and Brad to talk about last night's win over the Pacers in Game #2 of their playoff series.

Color Analayst for the UCLA-IMG Sports Network Matt Stevens spoke with Sam and Brad to talk about Josh Rosen for our Know Your Prospect segment.

Stevens, a former Bruin quarterback, said that Rosen is "another Aaron Rodgers" and is the best QB in the draft.

On Monday, Akron City Council announced the age for the sale of tobacco products have been raised from 18 to 21. Originally proposed by Tamiyka Rose, Akron becomes the tenth city in the state of Ohio to become a “Tobacco 21” town.

Akron mayor Dan Horrigan joined the Ray Horner Morning Show to share his thoughts. Though he understands any pushback the city could receive, the mayor feels this is a larger part of the evolution of the culture, and by curbing the use of tobacco, it will help promote a healthier society. Jeff Fusco is a part of city council, and he felt that the lack of availability of the products, based on research, would lessen the amount of teen smoking rates.

Veteran broadcaster Jay Crawford joined the Sam and Brad Show Monday to talk about his new venture doing the play-by-play for the Cleveland Browns' preseason games on News 5.

He also talked about the Cavs' loss in Game  #1 of the playoffs and how the lack of chemistry and synergy on the court is worrysome at times.

Jensen Lewis, fomer Tribe pitcher and current host on Indians Live on Sports Time Ohio, spoke with Sam and Brad to talk Tribe on 1590 WAKR. 

The Indians will be taking on the Minnesota Twins in Puerto Rico starting Tuesday for a quick-two game series.

Fox Sports Ohio Golf Analyst  Jimmy Hanlin talked a little golf with Sam and Brad Thursday including the news of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational moving from the South Course to Memphis in 2019.

 He also discussed Masters winner Patrick Reed and what's next for him.
