Shooting Outside Firestone CLC, One Dead

Akron Police say two people were shot after an altercation between two people Sunday night just outside of Firestone Community Learning Center. One person was killed. 

The shooting happened near the corner of North Hawkins Avenue and Berendo Avenue around 9 p.m. after the fight escalated, and others became involved. That's when police are reporting that unknown suspects fired shots into the crowd of people. 

When Police arrived on the scene they found two people shot, a 20-year-old male who was pronounced dead on the scene and a 17-year-old male who was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. 

There's been no suspect information released, nor have the identities of the victims been released yet.

One Killed, One Injured in Barber Shop Shooting

Akron Police updating us on the shooting at John's Barber Shop on East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue last night, saying two black males walked into the shop just before 7 last night, and started an argument with the victim who one of them shot and killed.

Another victim was shot in the leg during the argument, after which the suspects fled. That second victim was taken to Western Reserve Hospital by a barber shop employee.

No more suspect information has been released, while Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Detectives are investigating a double shooting that occurred inside John’s Barber Shop, located at 226 East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue.

Shortly before 7:00pm, officers responded to shots fired at the barber shop. When officers arrived, they found a male inside of the barber shop with a fatal gunshot wound.

Another victim, a 33 year old male, called police and stated he was shot in the leg while inside of the barber shop. The victim fled the barbershop and was transported to Western Reserve Hospital by an employee of the barber shop.

According to a witness, two black males entered the barber shop and started an argument with the victim (deceased). During the argument, one suspect pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots. The suspects fled.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy. The victim’s name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notifications. The shooting remains under investigation.

APD Investigating a Fatal Tuesday Morning Shooting

Update: The Summit County Coroner has identified the victim as 20-year-old Najae Monique Jeffries. She suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead on the scene. 

Police still have not named any suspects or provided any description.

Akron Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Channelwood Village. 

According to reports, the victim was shot and killed near the corner of West Thornton Street and Dunbar Avenue early Tuesday morning, around 2:45 a.m. 

Police have not released the name of the victim and aren't saying much about a suspect yet. 

Their investigation started near the intersection, but later moved to the Channelwood Village apartments.

Not Many Details in Canton Township Shooting

The Stark County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting that happened Monday evening in Canton Township. 

Deputies responded to a 911 call just after 5:30 Monday night, to a home on 49th St. SW. Upon arrival they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center where shortly afterwords he was pronounced dead. 

The victim was later identified as Michael W. Christensen, 30. It's unclear if Christensen was a resident of the home where he was found. 

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who may have information on the shooting to call their office at 330-430-3800.

Copley Road Shooting Turns Fatal

Akron police are investigating a shooting on Copley Road on Tuesday afternoon...a shooting that has turned fatal.

Police say that shortly before 2 PM, officers responded to the shooting call in the 800 block of Copley Road.

They found a male victim in the parking lot, with a gunshot wound to his torso.

After being taken to Akron General Medical Center, police say that the victim later died.

There isn't much information being released, including the name or age of the victim.

Police say the investigation is still in its early stages.
