Ray Horner Podcast - 1/31/2020

:17 - Super Bowl Sunday is upon us, as is our appetite for football and our favorite dips. Both were discussed, from pizza dip to our favorite games.

6:35 - As January concludes, Ray sat down with the mayor of Green, Gerard Neugebauer. The mayor talked about how his city in southern Summit County fared in 2019 and now into 2020, which includes new roundabouts and a fire station.

16:44 - Actor, comedian, and new-ish Akron resident Bret Ernst will be performing at the Funny Stop in Cuyahoga Falls all weekend. He’s also a massive football fan, so he gave his preview on the game.

Ray Horner Podcast - 11/6/2019

:19 - It’s the day after Election Day, and though it was considered an “off-year election,” the polls were certainly open around the Akron area. Ray and Jeanne began Wednesday’s program recapping what happened at the polls.

3:37 - Dan Horrigan will remain mayor of Akron in a blowout race over challenger Josh Sines, and he joined Ray to not necessarily look back at the last four years, but showcase his vision for the next four.

9:44 - Outside the area, we’re a year out from the presidential election. What will the elections in Kentucky, Mississippi, and Virginia mean for 2020? Our political analyst from Malone University, Dr. David Beer, shared his thoughts.

15:18 - Norton will retain their mayor, Mike Zita, for a third term. He joined Ray to talk about what’s on his plate.

18:00 - Issue 14 was a proposal to renew a levy for mental health and addiction services, and that passed. Jerry Craig heads up the Summit County ADM Board, and he thanked the voters for their support of this measure.

21:24 - Green will also keep their mayor, Gerard Neugebauer, in a very tight race. Neugebauer talked about what’s in store for his second term, and how hard-fought his race was, especially off the heels of the Nexus pipeline saga.

Ray Horner Podcast - 3/25/2019

:17 - Robert Mueller’s report on Russian collusion has been submitted, and it seems President Trump, in a way, has been exonerated. Dr. David Beer, professor of political science at Malone University, joined the Ray Horner Morning Show to discuss the findings in the report, as well as the 2020 Democratic candidates for president.

9:00 - Ahead of their opening game on Thursday, the Indians will have an infield of household names: Eric Stamets, Brad Miller, and Max Moroff.

16:26 - Dr. Gary Riggs stopped by today, as he always does on Mondays, to talk about your pets. Specifically, it is spring break, and folks are taking pets with them on their travels.

29:34 - Time now for our Business of the Week! We trek on down to Green to Menches Bros. as we devour their mouth-watering burgers on the air.

Ray Horner Podcast - 3/7/2019

:17 - It was announced last night that Alex Trebek is suffering from stage 4 pancreatic cancer, but plans on fighting through it. The panel discussed Trebek’s legacy a bit, as well as some of their favorite breakfast cereals to begin the show.

9:08 - It’s been a week since Ray was out in Goodyear, Arizona, so how about an update on the Tribe in spring training? Broadcaster Jim Rosenhaus joined the program.

19:36 - Malone University is adding cybersecurity as a major at their school. Dr. James Glasgow promoted the new major on the air.

23:15 - High school basketball playoffs keep moving right along. The Green Bulldogs are squaring off against Boardman tonight, and Green head coach Mark Kinsley previewed the contest and talked up his team.

28:26 - Can automated cars be racist? There's a little bit more to it than what's being reported...

32:22 - The weather is warming up in the forecast, which means it’s almost time to hit the links! And speaking of the links, Don Padgett III joined the show to promote the Bridgestone Champions Tour coming to Firestone Country Club on July 8-14.

:17 - Friday's s show began talking about the purpose of live mascots at sporting events, which comes off the heels of the Texas Longhorns' steer prying loose and trying to gore UGA, the University of Georgia's Bulldog mascot. Maybe PETA is finally on the right side of something?

6:41 - It's day three of our local mayor roundup, and today, we went down to Green. Mayor Gerard Neugebauer stopped by to recap 2018 in Green, which culminated in their fight against and settlement with Nexus on the pipeline.

20:18 - Capital Financial's Richard Peterson called into the program to talk about Ohio raising the minimum wage up a few cents, and the affect it may have on small and larger businesses.

28:00 - Have you ever lost something like a wedding ring, jewelry, wallet, phone, etc., and you yourself have felt lost? Ray and the panel shared their experiences.

39:12 - With it being Friday, it's time to sit down with our movie guy Scott Wynn. Scott and Ray chatted about Escape Room, as well as the new Mary Poppins.
