Former KSU Student Sentenced in Campus Assault

Former Kent State criminology student Connor Hendry, 21, who once worked for the KSU PD, was sentenced to 180 days in jail after pleading guilty to a lesser charged of Gross Sexual Imposition connected to an on-campus incident back in April of 2018.

Hendry, whose father used to work for the KSU PD, was originally charged with rape, but only months after the incident was reported.

Hendry is will have to register as a Tier One sex offender for the next 15 years and is banned from KSU campus forever.

Man Faces Life For Raping Two Young Girls

An Akron man has been found guilty of repeatedly raping two girls under age 10.

Summit County jurors found 26 year-old Daniel Austin of Hillman Road guilty of 18 felony charges of rape and gross sexual imposition.

Prosecutors say a teenage girl disclosed that Austin raped her daily starting at age 5 until age 10. That girl's cousin said she was also raped by Austin over an eight-year period.

Austin will be sentenced in March. Prosecutors say seven of the eight rape counts require a mandatory life sentence.

(Summit County Prosecutor's Office, news release) Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that a Summit County jury found Daniel Austin, 26, of Hillman Road in Akron, guilty of repeatedly raping two girls under the age of 10.

Jurors found Austin guilty of the following charges:

Eight counts of Rape – felonies of the 1st degree
Ten counts of Gross Sexual Imposition – felonies of the 3rd degree

Late last year, the teenaged victim disclosed that Austin raped her every day from the time she was 5-years-old until she was 10-years-old. The teen's cousin also disclosed she was repeatedly raped by Austin over a period of eight years.
Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Thomas Parker is scheduled to sentence Austin on March 8, 2016 at 1pm. Seven of the rape convictions carry a mandatory life sentence.

A Cuyahoga Falls man gets an eight year prison sentence for admitting to molesting a 10 year-old girl.

The Summit County Prosecutor's Office says that 40 year-old William Ensminger was sentenced in Summit County Common Pleas Court Tuesday, after pleading guilty to three counts of gross sexual imposition.

Judge Lynne Callahan also ordered Ensminger to report as a Tier II sex offender after he gets out of prison.

The girl and her mother attended the hearing.

(Summit County Prosecutor's Office, news release) Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Lynne Callahan sentenced William Ensminger, 40, of Front Street in Cuyahoga Falls, to eight years in prison.

On December 11, 2015, Ensminger pled guilty to the following charges:

Three Counts of Gross Sexual Imposition involving a Minor Under 13 – felonies of the third degree

In March of 2015, Ensminger sexually assaulted the girl at his Cuyahoga Falls home.

Avery II, the Summit County Prosecutor's Office facility dog, stood with the victim as her victim impact statement was read in court.

The Summit County Prosecutor's Office received Avery II in August of 2013 from Canine Companions for Independence. Avery is a highly trained four-year-old Labrador/Retriever mix facility dog, whose primary job is providing emotional support to adults with developmental disabilities and children who are victims of crime. Since 2013, Avery II has been involved in 82 cases in Summit County.

Gymnastics Coach Indicted On Child Sex Charges

A youth gymnastics coach has been indicted on three counts of Gross Sexual Imposition.

The Summit County Prosecutor's Office says 28 year-old Derek Waskowski of Stow was indicted by a Summit County Grand Jury.

He is charged with inappropriate sexual contact with a 10 year old girl who was taking lessons at Hudson's Little Leapers.

He'll be arraigned next Friday in a Summit County courtroom.

(Summit County Prosecutor's Office, news release) Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that a Summit County Grand Jury indicted Derek Waskowski, 28, of Stow, on three counts of Gross Sexual Imposition.

Waskowski worked as a coach at Hudson's Little Leapers and is charged with inappropriate sexual contact with a 10-year-old girl who was taking lessons at the business.

Waskowski is scheduled to be arraigned in Summit County Court on Friday, December 11, 2015.
