A Mogadore man is charged with trafficking and growing marijuana after police discovered it at his home.

Mogadore Police were called to the Curtis Street home of 66 year old William Moore on Wednesday, after reports from witnesses who saw someone going into the house through a window.

Mogadore police chief Todd Higgins says that he responded to the home for a possible burglary, but after he went to the window, his nose made a discovery.

"When I went to check the window of the house, the top part of the window fell down," Chief Higgins tells WAKR.net, "and I could see inside the house, and I was blasted with the large smell of marijuana."

The person who went through the window wasn't a burglar, but turned out to be Moore's 24 year-old grandson, who lives there. He was hiding in the home, and told police he was afraid to answer the door.

Chief Higgins says there were about 20 marijuana plants in the basement, and more than 52 pounds of marijuana in the home, scales and packaged marijuana in the home.

He says some of that marijuana was packaged for sale, and that neighbors say there was short-term traffic at the home near an elementary school that would support that idea.
