Akron Police are looking for three suspects who drove a vehicle, likely a large one, through the front doors of the Circle K at 1877 Triplett Boulevard early Tuesday morning, loaded up the ATM from inside, and then took off. 

An employee of the gas station told police he was mopping the floor when he saw the suspect vehicle coming towards the building about 4 a.m. He dropped the mop and locked himself inside of store's office in the back. 

According to the APD report, the suspects fled the scene, but later ditched that vehicle in a parking lot along Massillon Road. A witness told police that they saw the suspects get into a silver Chevy Suburban and drive off from that second location on Massillon Road.

Akron Police are looking for help finding a woman they say assaulted and robbed her elderly grandfather. According to the report, about 8 o'clock Monday night, the suspect, 28-year-old Leandrea Wright tried to get her 86-year-old grandfather's wallet from him. He fought back, she pushed him to the ground, and then took off with the wallet and the $39 inside. Charges of domestic violence and robbery have been filed against Wright, who was last seen leaving her home on Bellows Street in Akron.

An 18-year-old man was robbed of his cellphone in broad daylight Monday afternoon, around 3:30 at the intersection of Kenmore Boulevard and 13th Street Southwest.

The victim told Akron Police that a man walked up behind him, put him in a chokehold and slammed him to the ground, before taking off with the phone.

(APD) Around 3:30pm yesterday afternoon, officers responded to a robbery at the intersection of Kenmore Boulevard and 13th Street SW.  The victim, an 18 year old male, reported the suspect approached him from behind and put him in a choke hold.  The suspect then threw the victim to the ground and stole the victim’s cell phone.  The suspect fled eastbound on Kenmore Boulevard.

The victim was not injured.

The suspect is a white male, 20 – 30 years old, 5’11”, thin, with blonde or strawberry blonde hair, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and white shoes.

Akron Police are investigating one attempted robbery and another actual robbery, both committed Friday night within a couple of hours of one another and within just about 5 miles of one another, too. 

First, just after 7 o'clock Friday night, a man wearing a ski mask walked into Two Monk's Brewery Company at 352 Massillon Road. Walking toward the bar, and motioning to his waistband like he was pulling out a knife, demanded money. That's when the bar owner pulled a handgun and the suspect fled. 

Later Friday, at about 9:30, a suspect walked into Italo's at 1910 Brown Street, jumped the counter, and actually pulled a knife, demanding money from the register. In the second robbery, the suspect did get away with an undisclosed amount of cash. 

According to the police report, though, APD says that during the second robbery the suspect dropped the knife inside the restaurant. 

It's hard to get a spot-on description, given the suspect was wearing a mask in both incidents, but APD has released a description of a black male, between 18 and 23, wearing a black mask, all black clothing, standing between 5'10" and 6'.

Akron Police are warning residents to be cautious when buying or selling things online, as there's been a rash of robberies during recent meet-ups in the city.

Since December 30th, Akron Police says there have been eight robberies involving victims meeting someone they met through social media trying to buy or sell things like cellphones, tablets, or other electronics.

Detectives have narrowed down the recent thefts to a certain part of Akron around Donald, Virginia, Barbara, and Sylvan Avenues.

APD says internet buyers and sellers are welcome to plan meet-ups in front of the police station to make it safer for everyone.

The Akron Police Department is investigating multiple thefts and robberies involving individuals using social media sites to buy and sell items in the Akron area.

Officers have taken eight police reports since December 30, 2018 involving the theft/robbery of individuals trying to sell cell phones or other electronics in the Hillwood Homes area of Akron. The streets mostly involved are: Donald Avenue, Virginia Avenue, Barbara Avenue, and Sylvan Avenue. The thefts and robberies appear to be committed by several people, possibly a group working together. The victims have reported they listed a cell phone or electronic device or want to buy a cell phone or electronic device on social media sites. The victims then agreed to meet the potential buyer/seller at a location of the suspect’s choice. When the victim arrives, they are met by the buyer/seller, who is on foot. The suspect asked to see the phone or electronic device or the cash. The suspect then grabs the phone or cash and runs away. During the most recent incident the suspect acted like he was reaching for a handgun; however, no gun was seen.

The suspects are black males in their late teens to early twenties.

Three businesses in Akron's Kenmore neighborhood were targets for robbers over the weekend, and Akron Police believe it was one suspect that hit two of them. 

According to the report from APD, a man jumped over the front counter at the Rite Aid at 1047 Kenmore Boulevard Friday morning around 8:30, demanding cash from the register. The employee working refused and the suspect took off running. 

Later Friday evening, around 7, Police say that same Rite Aid was targeted again. According to the report, an employee approached the suspected shoplifter (pictured) who had been seen stuffing items under his shirt. When the employee asked the man to lift up his shirt, he refused while items were falling out of his clothing. The man then attempted to punch an employee while running out the front door, but the door was locked. That's when he pulled out a metal wire and stabbed at the employee's arms, demanding cash. The employee gave him money and he ran out the back door. 

Then Saturday night, around 7:30, the Tansations Tanning Salon at 1262 Kenmore Boulevard targeted by a man who pulled a knife and demanded money. That suspect, believed to be the same man in the second Rite Aid robbery, fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

(University of Akron) City of Akron and University of Akron police are asking for any information you may have related to two incidents that occurred between 3:15 and 4:15 a.m. today behind businesses in the 400 block of East Exchange Street.

In the first incident, a victim was reported to have been shot in the leg. The suspect is described as a light skinned black male wearing red pants with a white stripe and a white shirt. The victim, who is not a student, is being treated.

In the second incident, four or five men reportedly robbed a man and fled south of Exchange. The victim, also not a student, said he saw a gun. The suspects were described as black, possibly all wearing green bandannas. One was wearing gray sweats, a green bandanna and had short dreadlocks.

Akron Police have little to work with as they're looking for two men who assaulted and robbed an Akron man early Tuesday morning on the southwest side of the city.

According to report, just after midnight in the 900 block of West Wilbeth Road, two suspects approached the 36-year-old victim from behind and pistol-whipped him. Then, the two took off in the man's U-Haul truck. 

The victim couldn't provide a description of the suspects, but told police the truck was a 2011 Ford E-450 with Arizona plate AE-20969. No word on whether or not there was anything in the truck.

UPDATE: The following is an update from the Akron Police Department: 

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Office Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, the suspect involved in last night’s homicide outside of Luei’s Carryout, located at 1012 Hammel Street, has been arrested.

Task force officers and officers from the Akron Police Department arrested Jarvell Henderson, 27, with an unknown address in Akron. Henderson was taken into custody on Akron’s west side without incident. Henderson will be charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated murder and booked into the Summit County Jail.

Shortly after 4:00pm yesterday evening, Henderson entered Luei’s Carryout armed with a handgun. Henderson robbed the clerk and fled the store. While Henderson was fleeing the store, a customer who witnessed the robbery sprayed Henderson with a chemical mace. Henderson fired a shot, striking the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Henderson fled through a neighboring apartment complex.

Henderson was identified after he dropped an out of state identification card at the scene of the robbery/homicide.

Akron Police Detectives are investigating a deadly shooting that happened after an alleged robbery outside a carryout store in Akron. 

According to the report, the suspect robbed Leui's Market about 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. As he was leaving with the cash, the suspect was confronted by a man who witnessed what had happened. That man sprayed the suspect with what is thought to be pepper spray, trying to stop him. The suspect then shot the victim and ran. The victim was taken to Akron City Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His name hasn't been released, pending an autopsy and positive identification from the Summit County Medical Examiner. 

The suspect (pictured) is described as a black male, between 25 and 30-years-old, about 5'3", 13-140 pounds, with a short beard. He was wearing a plaid shirt, black Carhartt jacket, blue jeans, and white sneakers.

The Stark County Sheriff is investigating two separate robberies which may be connected. 

The first, according to the Sheriff's report, happened Friday, June 30th just before 6 p.m. at the PNC Bank at 2800 Whipple Avenue NW in Plain Township. A white male entered the bank wearing a hooded sweatshirt, dark glasses, a white T-shirt over his face, and white gloves.

Witnesses told investigators that the suspect never showed or indicated that he had a weapon. 

The second robbery happened Monday, July 3rd, just after 6 p.m. at the Dairy Queen 4110 Hills and Dales Rd. NW., also in Plain Township. 

Deputies responded to the Dairy Queen where witnesses say a man wearing a T-shirt and shorts with dark sunglasses and a white shirt over his face and head demanded the cash drawer. The report indicates the suspect in this robbery did say that he had a weapon, but never showed one. He left with the drawer in a maroon four-door SUV-type vehicle, possibly Kia Rio. 

In both robberies, the suspect is described as a white male, in his late 20's or early 30's, between 5' 6" and 5' 10", with a slender build. Akron Police are looking for 41-year-old Denise Myles of Akron who they say gave her name and phone number to a Family Video store clerk before holding the store up for cash. 

It happened about 3 p.m. at the store located at 1117 South Arlington Street in Akron. Police say Myles, who was later identified, walked in and approached the counter. After an exchange with the store clerk, Myles gave up her phone number so the clerk could look up her account. Shortly afterwords, Myles reportedly held her hand under her shirt as if she had a weapon, and demanded cash from the drawer. 

There is no word on whether she actually had a gun or not, and police did not specify how much cash Myles got away with.

Around 3:00pm yesterday afternoon, the Family Video Store, located at 1117 South Arlington Street, was robbed. The employee reported the suspect entered the store and shopped for a video. The female then approached the checkout counter, gave her phone number so the clerk could look up her account, then placed a note on the counter stating she had a gun. The female suspect had her hand under her sweatshirt, as if she had a gun, and demanded money. The clerk opened the cash drawer and handed the female an unreported amount of cash. The suspect fled.

Detectives followed up on the robbery and were able to identify the suspect as Denise Myles. A warrant for aggravated robbery was signed on Denise Myles. Denise Myles in 41 year old, 5’04” and 200 lbs. She was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Akron Police are looking for 24-year-old Mark E. Clay of Akron and his accomplice on aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, and abduction charges.

About 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, according to an Akron Police report, Clay and another man allegedly entered a home on Jason Avenue. The 62-year-old victim, and resident of the home, immediately recognized Clay; she said he's a friend of her son's. The other suspect was reportedly wearing a mask, and the victim was unable to identify him. During the home invasion, Clay and the other suspect allegedly attempted to tie up the victim, and ransacked the home, stealing her cell phone and then fled the house.

Afterwords, the victim walked to a neighbor's home and called police, identifying Clay (pictured). Anyone with information on Clay or the second suspect is asked to call the Akron Police Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490. Akron Police looking for the suspect in an attempted robbery of a Dollar Tree store on Vernon Odom Boulevard. 

According to the police report the suspect walked in, approached a checkout counter, and demanded the clerk empty the cash register drawer. The clerk refused and the suspect fled with nothing. 

The suspect is a black male, between 20 and 25-years-old, about 6 ft. tall, weighing between 160 and 180 pounds. He was wearing a cmouflage hoodie under a navy coat and blue jeans.

(UPDATE 3:00 PM 9/27/16) Portage County Sheriff deputies say they have found an armed robbery suspect that they consider armed and dangerous.

23 year-old Elijah Kyle Sanders was taken into custody after the Sheriff's office got information from the public about his possible location.

Sanders is accused of robbed a Ravenna Township home early this morning at around 3:30.

Reports say Sanders pulled out a handgun and robbed three people, after first coming to the Summit Road home as a guest. He then fled on foot.

He's being held at the Portage County Jail without bond, and will be arraigned on Wednesday afternoon.

(Earlier coverage) Portage County Sheriff deputies are searching for an armed robbery suspect that they consider armed and dangerous.

Deputies say they need the public's help to find 23-year-old Elijah Kyle Sanders who allegedly robbed a Ravenna Township home early this (Tuesday) morning around 3:30. Reports say Sanders had come to the Summit Road residence as a guest and at some point pulled out a handgun and robbed three people. Sanders then fled on foot. No one was injured during the robbery.

A warrant has been issued for Sanders. He's facing three counts of aggravated robbery.

A marijuana deal in West Akron turned into a robbery Wednesday afternoon.

Akron police say two females agreed to meet a man they met on Facebook to sell him small amount of marijuana in a parking in the 2000 block of West Market Street. When the man showed up, he allegedly reached into the female's car and grabbed a Crown Royal bag containing the marijuana and about $10 in cash. The man fled, but the females followed the man until he pulled over near Braewick Circle and Sand Run Road.

Police say the man allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the direction of the females. They drove away and called police.

APD identified the suspect as Dylante Richardson, 20, of Akron. He's been charged with aggravated robbery and booked into the Summit County Jail.

Akron Police is looking for the public's help identifying the person they say robbed the Carnegie Pantry at 959 Carnegie Avenue last Wednesday afternoon just after 4 p.m. 

As shown in the video below, the suspect entered the store and pointed a gun at the clerk, demanding money from the register and Newport 100 cigarettes. 

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5'5", between 250 and 300 pounds. He was wearing gloves and a bandana over his face. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Magaw with the Akron Police at 330-375-2490. 

Akron Police are asking the public's help catching a woman who robbed the PNC Bank at 1546 West Market Street just after the bank opened after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The police report states that employees reported the suspect entered the bank, handed the teller a note and demanded money. The teller handed the suspect an unreported amount of cash. The suspect put the money in a large purse and fled on foot.

The suspect is a black female, 35–45 years old, 5’02”–5’05”, 125–150 lbs., with long black hair. She was wearing a light blue zip-up jacket, dark jeans and a multi-colored head scarf.

The man who fatally shot a robber inside his Akron home a year ago has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter charges. 

The Summit County Prosecutor's Office says 22 year-old David Hills was at his house on Hilbish Avenue when two men forced their way inside and attempted to rob Hills at gunpoint. 

When the men ran off of his property, Hillis opened fire with his own gun and shot one of them, Marcus Glover, in the head. Glover died instantly.

The other man, Terry Tart pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter earlier this month.

Tart is scheduled to be be sentenced in September, while Hillis will be sentenced in October.

Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that David Hillis, 22, of Hilbish Avenue in Akron, pled guilty to shooting to death Marcus Glover following an attempted robbery at Hillis’ home.

Hillis pled guilty to the following charge:

Voluntary Manslaughter – a felony of the 1st degree

In the afternoon of August 7, 2015, Hillis was at his Hilbish Avenue home when Terry Tart and Marcus Glover forced their way into the home. Tart and Glover attempted to rob Hillis at gunpoint. When Tart and Glover ran off, Hillis opened fire with his own gun. Glover was about 70 yards away and no longer on Hillis’ property when he was shot in the head and died.

Tart pled guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter in connection with the incident on August 4, 2016.

Visiting Judge Richard Reinbold is scheduled to sentence Tart on September 7, 2016 at 11am and Hillis onOctober 7, 2016 at 10am.

A man linked to a fatal shooting in a robbery attempt has pleaded guilty.

The Summit County Prosecutor's Office says Terry Tart and Marcus Glover forced their way into David Hillis' Akron home and tried to rob him at gunpoint.

When they fled the home, Hillis fired at them - and shot Glover in the head. He died.

Tart pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges.

Hillis faces manslaughter charges, and is scheduled to be tried later this month.

Visiting Judge Richard Reinbold is scheduled to sentence Tart on September 7, 2016, at 11am.

David Hillis is charged with manslaughter with a gun specification and is scheduled to go on trial on August 16, 2016.

Akron police are looking for a man who allegedly robbed a FirstMerit Bank on West Market Street Friday evening.

Police said the man handed a teller a note at the West Market Street bank shortly before 6 p.m. The man allegedly threatened that he had a weapon and demanding money. The teller reportedly gave the man an unknown amount of cash and the suspect fled.

Authorities have released a photo from surveillance video to try and identify the man.

Family, friends, and even strangers are preparing for the upcoming charity event to honor University of Akron student Zak Husein who was killed last December in a pizza shop robbery. Student organizer Justin Cohen is teaming up with StopHungerNow to package food for those in need in honor of Husein.

The event is on April 19th -- but they're still in need of donations to make the event happen. More than $7,000 in donations have been collected, but the goal is set at $14,500 in order to package 50,000 meals for those in need.

UPDATE VIDEO 21-Year-Old Shot, Killed In Akron

Akron police arrested three juveniles and a 24-year-old Akron woman for allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint around midnight Wednesday.

A 36-year-old man told police he was walking with his girlfriend and three young boys near 7th Street SW when one of the juveniles pulled out a gun. The boy told the man to empty his pockets, but the victim says he didn't have anything to give them. The boy fired a shot from the gun and was joined by another juvenile who pulled out a knife and threatened the man.

Police arrested the three boys and 24-year-old Rita M. Chupp of Manchester Road.

They were charged with aggravated robbery and curfew violations . Chupp was booked into the Summit County Jail and the juveniles were placed in the custody of the Summit County Juvenile Court.

Officers recovered a handgun that was reportedly used in the robbery.
