:17 - It’s been one year since the shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Unfortunately, we’ve seen several school shootings since then, but this one in particular has stood out in recent memory. SACS Consulting & Investigative Services president and CEO Tim Dimoff was actually in Parkland recently, and he joined the show to discuss what has changed security-wise since then.

7:23 - Green mayor Gerard Neugebauer and fire chief Brian Lloyd stopped by the studio to touch on Green’s new community paramedic program for seniors.

14:12 - It sounds like an agreement to keep funding the government will happen, even if both parties are not excited about what is in the bill. Dr. David Beer talked about the extension of government and the money towards building more wall on the border.

23:03 - Pitchers and catchers have reported to camp, and Indians broadcaster Jim Rosenhaus reports to the Ray Horner Morning Show. Rosenhaus talked about the Francisco Lindor injury and who will replace him, especially with numerous free agents on the couch waiting for a call.

32:03 - In these cold winter months, what are some classic TV shows to binge-watch on a snowy weekend? The panel brought up theirs, which included Columbo, Golden Girls, Cannon, and Taxi.

Staff with the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is working to clear snow and ice that's accumulated throughout the park since workers were furloughed more than a month ago.

With Friday's announcement of the continuining resolution to re-open the government for at least three weeks, the park expects to fully resume regular operations on Wednesday, though all trails and park restrooms are already open. In addition, the Boston Store Visitor Center is set to open Tuesday morning at 9:30.

(CVNP) Brecksville, OH – With the enactment of the continuing resolution, staff at Cuyahoga Valley National Park have already begun the process of opening facilities that will allow the park to fully resume regular operations on Wednesday, January 30. Due to significant winter weather during the lapse in appropriations, park staff is working to clear snow and ice from walkways and other facilities to ensure the safety of visitors. Restrooms and trails are open. The Boston Store Visitor Center will open on Tuesday, January 29 at 9:30 a.m. Please visit www.nps.gov/cuva for updated information about the park.

“I would like to express the National Park Service’s gratitude to the park partners Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Countryside, and Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, as well as local community members, for helping to care for and support Cuyahoga Valley National Park,” Paul Stoehr, acting superintendent said. “In addition, my appreciation goes to the staff who worked while in furlough status. They showed admirable dedication.”

:17 - It was announced Friday afternoon that the partial government shutdown will cease, at least temporarily. Dr. David Beer, professor of political science at Malone University, recapped what went down and the impact the shutdown has had on the political landscape.

6:50 - Another incident occurred Friday on the local front, as the city of Akron was hit with a cyber attack. Akron mayor Dan Horrigan joined the program to discuss the cyber event, with him believing this attack to be financially motivated.

14:36 - We may see negative digits for a high in the Akron area, so our veterinarian, Dr. Gary Riggs, urges owners to keep their pets inside as much as possible.

22:36 - For more on the government shutdown, Dr. David Cohen called in to talk about the stalemate that continues, even if building a wall may still be on the table.

:17 - Ray is back from his day off, and he started his shortened week off talking to Dr. John Green, interim president at the University of Akron. Dr. Green recapped his State of the University address from last Friday, which included points about finances and the near and distant future as far as recruiting goes.

13:30 - Tuesday was the day the Oscar nominations were released ahead of next month’s Academy Awards. Our movie guy Scott Wynn has seen all these pictures, and he broke down who his favorites are for these awards.

20:35 - Speaking of actors and awards, Ray and the panel went over some of the most acclaimed actors of our time, as well as those who’ve appeared to be underrated over the years.

32:36 - The end of January starts tax season, and yes, we actually have a tax guy to defer to. Doug Klein drooped by the studio to answer tax questions, including the biggest one now: are we still getting our refund during the government shutdown?

:17 - In the NFL, the day after the regular season is called Black Monday, due to many coaches getting fired after scuffling seasons. The Browns are in a unique position where it’s a highly sought after job, but they also had some success with interim coach Gregg Williams. Where will they go? Who will they choose?

11:50 - In the first week (or so) of 2019, Ray will sit down with the mayors from the area to look back at 2018 and look ahead to the current year. Today, Cuyahoga Falls mayor Don Walters stopped by the studio to look back at 2018, from the continued growth of Portage Crossing to the opening of Front Street to automobile traffic.

28:28 - It’s day 11 of the government shutdown. Dr. David Beer, professor of political science at Malone University, mentioned what it’s all about and the repercussions that could come from it.
