A Canton man who has devoted his life to teaching youth has fallen ill in South Korea and his family and close friends have stepped up to help bring him back.

Jerry "Snaps" Lipkins has been living in Jeonju, South Korea and teaching the children of the last four years and now must be brought back home in order to receive some urgent medical care.

Randy Sistrunk, a close friend of Jerry's joined the Sam Bourquin Show on a Friday to alert him of his condition.

"He's been teaching English in South Korea, and spent time in South Korea, and Thailand," Sistrunk explained.  "He became sick in Thailand and was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung disease."

Lipkins graduated from Canton McKinley and Ohio State University.  He would need to be brought back due to the fact that there are no genetic matches in South Korea.

Sistrunk along with family and many others immediately took actionwith a GoFundMe account so they can get him back to the United States to get his lung transplant. The procedure costs around $200,000, and over the last five days, over $14,000 has been raised to help bring Jerry home.
