The 5 year old boy who died when he was hit by his parents' car right after being dropped off for kindergarten at St. Francis DeSales School in Coventry earlier this week has been identified.

He is Carter Andes, of Green, and the Summit County Medical Examiner's office says he died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Funeral services will be held this Saturday at St. Francis, on Manchester Road.

Mansfield Police say 16 year old Trenton M. Schoenman,  reported missing earlier today, has been found and is safe.

Akron police are asking for your help identifying four people who might have information about a fatal shooting last Friday at the Halftime Sports Pub on South Main.

Police found 26 year old Darian Hardison dead, and another man--28 year old Derrick Comby--wounded--shot in the leg.

Anyone with information about the shooting, or who can help police identify the people in this picture, are asked to call them at  (330) 375-2371. 

An endangered missing child alert has been cancelled now, for a 7 year old boy who was taken from his home in Trumbull County by his non-custodial father.

Authorities said they believed Aaryn Bickel was in danger. He's been found safe now.

He's described as white, with blond hair and blue eyes, about 60 pounds, and four foot two. He was last seen on Kenyon Drive in Warren, and is believed to be with his father, 30 year old James Bickel.

The grandaughter of the founder of the Quaker Oats company--Jean Hower Taber, has given the University of Akron its biggest ever donation---$20 million dollars.

University President, Matthew Wilson, says three quarters of the money will be used for scholarships for students studying Audiology, and for students in their Honors College.

This just the latest gift from the noted community activist and philanthropist, who, prior to her death this summer--had already donated $7.7 million dollars to the University.

Akron Police gave an 89 year old Akron man a new bike today, to replace his bike that was stolen last week.

Thornapple Avenue resident, James Pint, says he was very happy to get the new bike, as his old one was stolen when he parked it in front of the grocery store last week. "It had a lock, but I didn't use it", he explained, noting that there isn't a bike rack in front of the store, so he parked it there unlocked. But, last Thursday, he says, when he was shopping, a store employee told him a kid had just stolen his bike. "I think he was 12 or 13", Pint says.

Akron Police Chief James Nice says after they he got the report about Pint's bike being stolen, they decided to replace it, and while they have often given bikes to kids in the past--he couldn't remember ever giving one away to someone Pint's age. "It's a wonderful thing to see folks still riding bicycles," he says, "especially on a day like today--it's an absolutely beautiful day. You'd hate to be without a bicycle, if you like riding."

As to Pint's reaction to the gift, he says "I'm really surprised, and I thank the police department very much". He adds that he rides about "3 or 4 times aweek and maybe more if the weather is nice", mainly to the grocery store, and to church. 

Bring your buns to the 12th National Hamburger Festival at Lock 3 in downtown Akron, August 12th and 13th, where you can sample more than 50 kinds of burgers, and even compete in a "Ninja Challenge" like they have on TV.

Plans are underway for the festival, which celebrates Akron's history as the originator of America's favorite beefy treat. Legend has it that Akronites, Frank and Charles Menches, invented the sandwich when they substituted beef for pork at the Erie County Fair, in Hamburg, New York, back in 1885. 

Today, Drew Cerza, of Buffalo, New York, is the founder of the festival, which is presented by the City of Akron, and sponsored by Barefoot Wine & Bubblly. Proceeds will go to support Akron Children's Hospital.

New this year, Cerza says, will be an "Akron Ninja Challenge" complete with an obstacle course like they have on the popular TV show, "American Ninja Warrior". They'll even have a couple of contestants from the show, James Wilson, and Patrick Hall, on hand. Wilson is currently on the show, and is based out of Cincinnati, OH. Hall, who is a two-time contestant, will lead the course.

The festival will also feature live music, from The Buck Naked Band, Justin Fabus, and Shooter Sharp & The Shootouts.

And, to promote the event, Drew Cerza and Akron RubberDucks owner, Ken Babby, will "bob for burgers" in a kiddie pool filled with ketchup at a Ducks game, sometime next week.  They did it a couple of years ago, and it became such a YouTube fan favorite; they're going to do it again this year--date and time, TBA.

Akron police have charged an 18 year old man with a felony for posting a nude picture of a 14 year old girl on Facebook.

Richard A. Anderson, Jr. of Rockaway Street in Akron, is charged with pandering sexual content of a minor.

The woman driving the car that struck and killed two 14 year old girls, and seriously injured a 15 year old boy in Coventry on May 28th--has been charged with a number of crimes in connection with that incident--including texting while driving.

24 year old Natasha Boggs of New Franklin, is also charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of vehicular homicide, one count of tampering with records, and one count of vehicular assault, and a charge related to marked lanes.

The teens were walking along the side of the road on South Main, when the accident ocurred.

Boggs was arrested today by the Summit County Sheriff's office.

A 23 year old Cuyahoga Falls man has been arrested, and charged with robbery for a hold up at the PNC Bank branch in Tallmadge on June 23rd.

Tallmadge police say Jacob K. Onusic jumped over the counter and demanded money from employees, and he was identified through traces of DNA left at the crime scene. He's in the Summit County jail now.

Still at large, though, is a suspect who drove the get-away car, in which Onusic is alleged to have escaped.
