"Isolated" Bed Bug Found At Alliance High

Written by

Another bed bug has been found at Alliance High School, but school officials say like before, it came in from the outside.

Allliance schools officials tell WAKR that the single "isolated" bed bug was found in a classroom during first period Thursday, and district offices were informed at about 10 AM.

A couple of hours later, it was learned that the room where the bed bug was found still had people in it, and the room was closed - and will remain so, while it's inspected, and it will be treated if an infestation is found.

The district says no other bed bugs were found in the room or in the school.

Bed bugs were found at Alliance High School in March.

The district says treatment after the discovery should still have protected the school through now, one reason they believe the latest find also came from the outside.

(Alliance City Schools, news release) The health and safety of our children is the number 1 priority of Alliance City Schools. One bed bug was found in our high school today. As per our district protocol, we will have this room inspected by a licensed pest control agent and treated if an infestation is found.

Please be assured that the affected classroom will not be used by staff or students until after an inspection and treatment (if necessary) is completed.

We want to remind everyone that the citing of an isolated bed bug does not indicate the entire school is infested. It is very like that the bed bug found today in Alliance High School came from outside the school.

We would also like to emphasize that although bed bugs are a nuisance they do not carry diseases or do not pose any threat to our students. We will continue to work with our local health officials in assuring the safety of our staff and students.
