A prominent Akron philanthropist has passed away.

Judy Read has died.

She and her husband Roger married in 1963, and in 1986, created the Read Family Fund through the Akron Community Foundation that has helped many organizations such as the Boys' and Girls' Club, Akron Urban League, Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and Project Grad at Buchtel High School.

The Reads have been on the boards of numerous non-profit organization.
