WGC-Bridgestone Field Set At 61

The field of 61 is set for the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational this week. Billy Hurley III is the last qualifier, winning the Quicken Loans National for his first PGA title.

The field at Firestone includes fwo past tournament champions, and 40 of the top 50 in the World Golf rankings.

(WGC-Bridgestone release) The field of 61 was finalized on Monday for the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, which is set to take place June 29 – July 3, 2016, at Firestone Country Club's South Course. Here are a few quick facts on the field:

14 countries represented, including the United States
29 international players in the field; 32 from the United States
27 of the top 30 in the current FedExCup standings
40 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking
16 players making their Bridgestone Invitational debut
Eight players making their World Golf Championships debut
Two past champions (Shane Lowry, Adam Scott)

Billy Hurley III joined the field over the weekend after capturing the Quicken Loans National for his first career PGA TOUR title. The start in Akron will be Hurley's first at the Bridgestone Invitational as well as his first in a World Golf Championships event.

Joining Hurley in the field at the last minute was Kiradech Aphibarnrat, who jumped from No. 52 to No. 49 in the Official World Golf Ranking to qualify for the Bridgestone Invitational. Aphibarnrat will make his second appearance at Firestone Country Club; he finished T40 in 2013.
