Boyfriend Pleads In Shaken Baby Case

A Cuyahoga Falls man has pleaded guilty to shaking his girlfriend's 8 month old baby.

29 year-old William Jobe of Second Street pled guilty to felony charges of endangering children.

Prosecutors say Cuyahoga Falls police responded to a call of an 8-month old having trouble breathing last August, and the baby had serious injuries.

Jobe was the live-in boyfriend of the baby's mother, and police say he admitted to shaking the infant.

The 8-month old is still in a long recovery from major injuries.

Jobe's sentencing is scheduled for early September.

(Summit County Prosecutor's Office, news release) Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that William Jobe, 29, of Second Street in Cuyahoga Falls, pled guilty to violently shaking his girlfriend's baby.

Jobe pled guilty to the following charges:

Endangering Children – a felony of the 2nd degree

According to Cuyahoga Falls police, emergency crews responded to the Second Street home on August 19, 2015 after a call to 9-1-1 to report an 8-month-old who was having difficulty breathing. The 8-month-old was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. During a police interview, Jobe, who was the live-in boyfriend of the baby's mother and was home alone at the time of the incident, admitted to shaking the infant. The baby is recovering from a significant brain injury however faces a long recovery process.

Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Paul Gallagher is scheduled to sentence Jobe on September 7, 2016 at 10am.
