Akron Man Pleads Guilty In Wife's Death

Phillip Battle, 52, has pled guilty in the shooting death of his wife, Anita Heard. 

Akron Police report that Battle called police to their home back on October 11, 2016, claiming that the two of them heard voices in the house. Officers responded to the disturbance call at the home on Johnland Avenue. 

The next day, Battle called 911 again and told police he shot his wife in the head. He was arrested shortly after. Heard died about a month later.

On Wedensday, in Summit County Common Pleas Court, Battle entered a guilty plea to charges Involuntary Manslaughter with a Gun Specification, Tampering with Evidence, Failure to Comply, and Domestic Violence; all felony charges. 

He is due back in court for sentencing on February 22nd.
