A woman from Green has been arrested for kidnapping a young child.

27 year old Olivia Remenyi, who reportedly has a history of psychotic episodes and drug use, took her two-year old cousin to the store on Friday and did not return. The parents of the child called the Summit County Sheriff's Office who then issued an AMBER Alert.

The child was found around 9:00 PM at a suspected drug house left with an unknown person on the porch. Remenyi took off on foot, but was captured after a short chase. She admitted to keeping the child longer than permitted by his mother and even to taking him along on a drug run.

The two-year old was evaluated by the Akron Fire Department and released to his parents.

Remenyi was booked into the Summit County Jail.

(Summit County Sheriff's Office) On November 06, 2015, Olivia Remenyi watched her 2 year old cousin at his residence in the City of Green. Olivia was provided consent from the child's mother for her to take the child to the store. She was instructed to return the child within the hour. Several hours later, she had not returned and she was not answering her telephone. The child's family contacted the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

Olivia has a history of psychotic episodes and drug use. Her vehicle was tracked by phone to the area of Simmons Court in the City of Akron. Witness information indicated she fled the vehicle on foot with the juvenile. The Sheriff's Office issued an Amber Alert and BOLOS were sent out in an effort to locate Remenyi and the child. The Sheriff's Office began a search of the area with deputies, detectives, and the assistance of the Akron Police Department.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., the child was located at a suspected drug house. Remenyi left the child with unknown persons on the porch. She then fled on foot and was apprehended after a short chase. The child was treated and evaluated on the scene by Akron Fire and released to his parents.

Olivia Remenyi was interviewed and admitted to taking the child longer than permitted by his mother. Remenyi took the child with a friend to 6 different locations in the city to purchase drugs. She consumed crack cocaine in the presence of the child and at the last house, she used drugs and left the child on the porch.

Sheriff Steve Barry commented, "This was an entire agency effort with wonderful results. I am very proud of our agency. Thanks to their determination to quickly follow every lead and evaluate any and all information, this child was found safe and the suspect was apprehended."

Olivia Remenyi, age 27 of Green was arrested and charged with Kidnapping (F-2) andChild Endangering (M-1). She was booked into the Summit County Jail.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal car accident that happened in Stark County Saturday morning.

30-year old Danielle Johns of Tuscarawas was driving southbound on State Route 21 in Bethlehem Township around 1:40 AM. Officers say she lost control of her car and went off the roadway. She then struck a tree, a fence, and then another tree. Johns was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt while driving. It's not yet known if alcohol was involved in the crash.

A two-time NBA champion and the wife of the most powerful man in the country sure do know how to make an impact. 

Thousands of students involved in LeBron James' "Wheels For Eduction" and "I Promise" programs and their families packed the James A. Rhodes arena on the University of Akron campus Wednesday afternoon to take a pledge to complete their education.

The Cavaliers star, who recently announced that he has partnered with the University of Akron to provide scholarships for students in the LeBron James Family Foundation who graduate high school, wants everyone to get involved with investing in the future of our youth.

"I want each and every one of you, not just the kids, but also the parents and the teachers and the mentors and whoever is around these kids every single day, to understand that we are family and we are going to continue to look after each other on becoming as great as we can be," he said.

LeBron even brought a special guest with him to his hometown . First Lady Michelle Obama told the kids that she and LeBron are no strangers to overcoming obstacles at a young age.

"We were kids just like you, and we didn't come from places where families had a lot of money and a lot of resources," said Obama. "We know how amazing you all are and the things that you can do with your lives because we're standing here, and if we can be here we know you can too."

Obama also illustrated the importance of higher education.

"Imagine yourself succeeding here and walking across the stage and getting your college diploma," she said. "Start envisioning that for yourself now, because you all have to get an education beyond high school. You have to."

A new social media campaign, known as "Better Make Room", was introduced by Obama to allow children to share their dreams and aspirations with others all around the world.

The event concluded with both LeBron and The First Lady reciting the "I Promise Pledge" with the crowd, asking them to accept the challenge to finish school.

University of Akron President Dr. Scott Scarborough took center stage at a town hall meeting-style discussion on campus Monday.

Nearly one hundred students showed up to the Student Union to ask the president anonymous questions by sending text messages which displayed on a monitor.

Scarborough touched on about 25 topics during the two hour meeting. One of the most popular issues was the cuts made at E.J Thomas Hall.

"When we looked at the economic performance of E.J. Thomas it was losing in any year anywhere between one-point-two and two millions dollars," said Scarborough. "And given the financial challenges that we had overall we need to find a way to continue with E.J. Thomas, but not lose that much per year."

Many students were also looking for answers about the elimination of the varsity baseball program.

"Our commitment to intercollegiate athletics is very strong, but the question is always going to be 'what is the appropriate level of investment ?', said Scarborough. "We are an academic institution first and foremost , so we're always going to make those decisions that we believe are going to keep this university stronger."

Something that will not be dismissed anytime soon, according to Scarborough, is the name of the university. He addressed that once again as well.

"The name of the university does not change, so the degree will continue to say 'The University of Akron'," said Scarborough. "What we're trying to do is to take the University of Akron's great name and all of the equity and strength that it has and make it even stronger."

And don't worry, Zippy isn't going anywhere either.

"I've never heard of one person that wants to get rid of Zippy, not one," said Scarborough. "And I've heard many different ideas, so I think that suggests that Zippy is beloved. In fact, she is on our list of university strengths ."

Senior PR major Sofia Syned was one of the students in attendance . She says she wasn't very satisfied with how Scarborough answered the questions.

"I believe he did not answer those questions," she said. "I feel like they were scripted and a lot of people's questions weren't answered that were texted in."

Fellow student Israa Eddeb agrees and thinks the school is being run more like a business and less like...a school.

"I feel like what the university is currently doing is trying to market the school as opposed to helping the students ", she said. "I feel like the student are less priority, the current students especially. They're looking just towards the future students. So I really want to know how are they going to help us now and not the future students coming up?"

Undergraduate Student Government Chief of Staff Megan Bodenchatz, who helped put on the event, says even though there may still be some concerns, she was satisfied with Scarborough's answers.

"I think that there still is a little bit of murky water, but overall I think that he did a really great job of trying to communicate with the students what's going on in the university and what the future of the university holds." she said.

Other topics that were addressed included campus safety, a possible k-12 laboratory school, the impact of LeBron James' partnership, the reduced cost of gen-ed courses, and the infamous olive jar.
