Just hours before the American League Championship Series, the Indians have had to make a pitching adjustment.

Corey Kluber will still be on the mound for tonight's Game 1 against the Blue Jays, but Trevor Bauer won't be starting tomorrow's Game 2 due to a "non-baseball injury" - a laceration to his right pinkie finger which did require stitches.

That moves Josh Tomlin to Game 2 as the starter.

The Indians say Trevor Bauer is now scheduled to start Game 3 at Toronto on Monday night.

(Indians) RHP JOSH TOMLIN will start Game 2 of the A.L. Championship Series, tomorrow, Saturday, October 15.

RHP TREVOR BAUER (non-baseball related injury) suffered a laceration to his right small ("pinkie") finger which required several stitches. Trevor is scheduled to start Game 3 at Toronto on Monday, October 17.

Central Interchange: A New Look

The next big highway construction project in Akron will involve the Central Interchange...with a new $40 million project that'll handle the work in pieces.

It's the early phase for a project that should get underway in about five years.

ODOT's Justin Chesnic says one key proposal is to make the left-hand exit ramps at the Central Interchange safer.

"If you're coming I-76 west and want to go to I-77 south, those left hand ramps," Chesnic says, "this project that we're proposing to do here a few years down the line will improve those ramps, lengthen those ramps and increase the speed on those ramps."

That'd also improve the left-hand ramp from I-76 east to Route 8 north.

Chesnic says the new Central Interchange project is already funded, and would follow the current work on 76/77 near Main and Broadway.

A public meeting will be held to get input on the latest plan, October 27th at Glover Community Learning Center on Hammel Street.

----

(Ohio Department of Transportation, news release) The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is in the early stages of developing a road construction project to improve the I-76/I-77/SR-8 Central Interchange in Akron. ODOT will conduct an open house public involvement meeting to present the feasible alternative designs for the project.

The public involvement meeting will be Thursday, October 27, 2016, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Glover Community Learning Center cafeteria located at 935 Hammel Street, Akron, Ohio. The public involvement meeting will be conducted in an open house format with no formal presentation. Attendees may arrive anytime between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

Mapping, exhibits, and preliminary plan information will be displayed. Throughout the open house, representatives of the ODOT project team will be available to discuss the feasible alternatives, potential impacts of the proposed project, and address any questions and concerns.

The proposed project involves safety, congestion and infrastructure condition improvements in the I-76/I-77/SR-8 Central Interchange. The project is a result of a detailed analysis of the Akron freeway system that examined traffic flow, infrastructure condition, and other issues. Construction of this estimated $40 million project is expected to begin in 2021.

The following improvements are proposed:

· Change the curve of the ramps for I-76 east to SR-8 north and I-76 west to I-77 south to allow for faster vehicle speeds.

· Modify the ramp from I-76 west to SR-8 north.

· Adjust I-76 westbound within the Central Interchange because of the ramp changes.

· Removal of the I-76 westbound exit ramp to Inman Street / Johnston Street.

· Removal of the I-77 southbound exit ramp to Lovers Lane.

· The Lafollette Street Bridge over I-77 is proposed to be replaced with a new, longer bridge at the same location, removed and not replaced, or removed and replaced with a new bridge over I-77 at Kipling Street.

Comments may be submitted in the following four ways:

· Spoken or submitted in person during the open house public involvement meeting

Two Fugitives Arrested Far From Akron

Two Akron men who've been on the run for months have been arrested far from Akron.

Akron police say 23 year-old Davon Miguel Irvine was wanted for a home invasion robbery last December on Pontiac Street. He was arrested by a U.S. Marshals task force in Texas.

26 year-old Brock Richardson was wanted for involuntary manslaughter and drug charges in connection with the heroin overdose death of a 21 year-old Akron man. He was arrested in Florida.

Both are awaiting extradition back to Akron.

(APD, news release) Chief James Nice announces the arrest of Davon Miguel Irvine, 23, of Alton Drive and Brock Richardson, 26, of Tonawanda Avenue, both of Akron. Irvine was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent and Offenders Task Force in Stafford, Texas. Richardson was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force in Port Richey, Florida.

The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force conducted countless hours of intelligence over the last several months, which included interviews and electronic surveillance in the Akron area. This intelligence led investigators to Stafford, Texas and Port Richey, Florida, where the fugitives were taken into custody without incident and will await extradition back to Ohio.

Davon Irvine is wanted for aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary for a home invasion that occurred on December 30, 2015 in the 1300 block of Pontiac Street. Irvine and another male duct taped, zip tied and pistol whipped the resident's before taking the residents cell phone and cash.

Richardson is wanted for involuntary manslaughter, corrupting another with drugs and trafficking in drugs. On February 21, 2016, Richardson supplied a 21 year old male with heroin. The 21 year old male was found deceased by his mother after overdosing on the heroin.

Akron Man Indicted In Fentanyl Death

An Akron man has been indicted for selling fentanyl linked to a fatal overdose.

The U.S. Attorney's Office Northern Ohio says 31 year-old Steven Daniels was indicted in federal court on charges of possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute.

Prosecutors say Daniels allegedly sold the drug that caused an overdose of an Akron man in April.

(U.S. Attorney's Office, news release) An Akron man was indicted in federal court for selling fentanyl that caused a fatal overdose earlier this year, law enforcement officials said.

Steven D. Daniels, 31, was indicted on one count each of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and distribution of fentanyl. The latter carries a sentencing enhancement because Daniels allegedly sold fentanyl that caused the fatal overdose of a person identified in the indictment as T.B. That took place on April 2 in Akron, according to the indictment.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Henry F. DeBaggis following an investigation by the Akron Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration.

If convicted, the defendant's sentence will be determined by the court after a review of the federal sentencing guidelines and factors unique to the case, including the defendant's prior criminal record (if any), the defendant's role in the offense and the characteristics of the violation.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government's burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Two Chinese Men Fraud Against Goodyear

Two Chinese men will get over two years in prison for a $1.5 million fraud scheme against Akron-based Goodyear.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Northern Ohio and the FBI in Cleveland says the men - Xin Franco Fan and Ren Xu Yu - pleaded guilty in a scheme that bilked the China offices of a Goodyear subsidiary.

Fan and Yu set up shell companies and Goodyear bought natural rubber from those companies between 2013 and this year.

The men will be deported after serving 27 months each in prison.

------

(U.S. Attorney's Office Northern Ohio, news release) Two Chinese nationals were each sentenced to more than two years in prison for defrauding Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company out of $1.5 million, said U.S. Attorney Carole S. Rendon and Stephen D. Anthony, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Cleveland office.

Xin Franco Fan and Rex Xu Yu both pleaded guilty earlier this year to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and honest services wire fraud. Both were sentenced to 27 months in prison and ordered to pay $1.5 million in restitution.

Fan and Yu will be deported upon their release.

Both men were employees of Goodyear Orient Company (Private) Limited, or GOCPL, a subsidiary of Goodyear, located in Singapore and with offices in China. GOCPL manages all of the natural rubber purchasing, delivery, financing and quality certifications for Goodyear's global operations. Goodyear, through GOCPL, spends approximately $1 billion annually to acquire natural rubber for its operations. Fan was Yu's manager, according to court documents.

Fan, Yu and others incorporated or caused to be incorporated overseas shell companies in which they held a financial interest. Fan, Yu and others caused Goodyear to purchase natural rubber from these shell companies. They also required Goodyear suppliers to use loading companies in which they had a financial interest. This took place between 2013 and 2016, according to court documents

"These two defendants deserve their prison sentences after stealing $1.5 million," Rendon said. "Goodyear is to be commended for promptly reaching out to law enforcement when they uncovered this scheme. Because of the company's quick action, these men were brought to justice."

"The FBI is responsible for protecting the public's interest in American companies by aggressively pursuing and bringing to justice those who unjustly profit from American ingenuity by stealing secrets," said Stephen D. Anthony, Special Agent in Charge, FBI, Northern District of Ohio.

As a condition of their employment, Fan and Yu were obligated to act in the best interests of Goodyear when purchasing natural rubber. In 2015, Goodyear received an anonymous tip that Fan and Yu were receiving kickback payments in connection with GOCPL's raw materials purchases. With the cooperation of Goodyear executives, an investigation into the matter led to Fan and Yu being arrested earlier this year and criminal charges being filed in federal court.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Rebecca Lutzko, Henry F. DeBaggis and James Morford following an investigation by the FBI.

The mother and grandmother of the 16 year-old who died of a heroin overdose have been sentenced.

Judge Lynne Callahan ordered the mother, Heather Frye, and the grandmother, Brenda Frye, to spend 9 years each in prison for involuntary manslaughter.

During sentencing, Judge Callahan said that Heather Frye knew what she and her mother did to her son, Andrew Frye.

"You know the cycle that you've grown up in, at yet you're there in the hotel room having your son in the same cycle," Judge Callahan told Heather Frye.

Judge Callahan told Brenda Frye that she's just as responsible as her daughter

"You are every bit as culpable as your daughter. Every bit as culpable. There's not one thing you did that makes you less culpable," Judge Callahan said.

Both pled guilty to the charges against them, for their involvement with the death of Andrew in a Green hotel room back in April.

FirstEnergy Crews Heading To Florida

Crews from Akron-based FirstEnergy are helping with power restoration in Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. 390 crew members from Ohio Edison and eight other FirstEnergy utilities are arriving in Florida on Saturday, along with support staff from Akron. They'll help in restoring power to hundreds of thousands of Florida residents who have lost it after Matthew slammed Florida.

------

HurricaneStaging FirstEnergy(FirstEnergy, news release) As part of its long-standing tradition of assisting other electric companies during large-scale power outages, FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) utilities have sent 390 linemen, damage assessors, forestry crews and support personnel to Lake City, Florida, to help Florida Power & Light with restoration efforts following Hurricane Matthew. Crews began leaving for Florida on Thursday, with all expected to arrive at the Lake City staging area by Saturday.

Current forecasts call for Hurricane Matthew to make landfall in Florida today
before moving up the coast through Saturday. Hundreds of thousands of customers have already lost power, and personnel will be deployed to the most damaged areas when it's safe to do so after the storm moves through.

Nine of FirstEnergy's utilities are part of the mutual assistance effort, which includes crews from Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company (CEI) and Toledo Edison in Ohio; Penelec, West Penn Power and Met-Ed in Pennsylvania; Mon Power in West Virginia; Potomac Edison in West Virginia and Maryland; and Jersey Central Power & Light in New Jersey. Support personnel from FirstEnergy's corporate offices also are included in the company's contingent.

"FirstEnergy employees are committed to assisting what is likely to be a massive power restoration effort in Florida," said Steven Strah, senior vice president and president of FirstEnergy Utilities. "While it's not expected that Hurricane Matthew will impact any FirstEnergy service territories, we have carefully assessed conditions and are confident we have the personnel in place to maintain reliable operations for our customers."

FirstEnergy is a member of multiple electric utility mutual-assistance groups that work cooperatively to restore service to customers when a natural disaster causes large-scale power outages. Mutual assistance allows utilities to pool their resources to help restore power to customers faster. In the past, FirstEnergy and its employees have been honored by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) with its "Emergency Assistance Award" for the mutual assistance the company has provided during winter and summer storms.
