AUDIO Jeff Zillgitt Talks USA Men's Basketball

Written by

The United States men's basketball team got a well-rounded performance during their game Wednesday against Argentina 105-78, and despite some defensive shortcomings,  Team USA is ready for more challenges ahead.

Jeff Zillgitt from USA Today joined us in the Sam Bourquin Show Thursday to talk about the team's run throughout the Rio tournament and what they will have to do in order to beat Spain in the semifinals Friday afternoon.

"There are defensive shortcomings, Serbia, Australia, France, there's no denying that," Zillgitt said. "But when you talk about Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irving, Paul George, I'm not sure that Spain has enough to stop those guys from getting whatever they want offensively."

Zillgitt says he's been impressed with Paul George, who plays for the Indiana Pacers in the NBA, his leadership and unselfishness on the court.

"He doesn't need to start, I like what he has to offer, and it's impressive coming off his injury that kept him out most of the year."
