Akron's own LeBron James reacting to Tuesday night's election results.

The NBA superstar, and public Hillary Clinton supporter, posted a message on his Instagram account  along with audio of the song "Alright" by Kendrick Lamar.

 

As I woke up today looking and searching for answers on what has happened this song hit it right on the head! If we continue the faith(as hard as it may be to do so) we will BE ALRIGHT!! Parents and leaders of our children please let them know they can still change the world for the better! Don't lose a bit of faith! They're our future and we must remain stronger than ever!! Yes we all wanna lace up the boots, put on the hard hats and strike but that's not the answer. Love, genuine LOVE and FAITH will be the only thing that can get us through this. Minorities and Women in all please know that this isn't the end, it's just a very challenging obstacle that we will overcome!! With just over a month to go until the election, Hillary Clinton's campaign announced that the presidential candidate will be coming to Akron on Monday.

Clinton plans on attending the Ohio Democratic Party voter registration event at the new Goodyear Theater and Hall on East Market Street. Doors open at 1:30 PM and the event begins at 3:30. Space is limited, but you can RSVP to the event on Clinton's campaign website.

This will be her first time in the Rubber City since winning the Democratic nomination.

Clinton also plans on visiting Toledo while she is in Ohio.

The memory of the late Russ Pry will live on thanks to an event he founded.

The Beacon Journal reports organizers of the Summit For Kids Family Expo decided to rename their annual youth award after the former Summit County Executive who passed away last month from complications with colon cancer.

The winner of the first Summit For Kids Russ Pry Youth Award is 18 year-old Maria Paparella of Akron. She created a nonprofit organization called "Chair-ity" that provides furnishings and other household items to young adults who age out of the foster care system. Paparella has raised over $15,000 and donated 233 pieces of furniture to 22 youth.

The Summit For Kids Family Expo, which Pry helped start seven years ago, is held at the John S. Knight Center in Akron and features educational activites for families and free back to school supplies for kids. The event will run until 4:00 PM today.

Sad news for local water park fans. Cedar Fair has announced that Wildwater Kingdom will be closing after the 2016 season.

The Beacon Journal reports the Aurora area attraction has struggled to stay afloat since shutting down its sister park, Geauga Lake, back in 2007 and existing as it's own space.

In a news release, Cedar Fair says they have been working with Bainbridge Township and the City of Auora to "redevelope the entire property into what will best benefit the surrounding communities."

Wildwater Kingdom's last day of opperation will be Monday, September 5.

Amazon is offering Akron residents a new way to receive and return ordered packages.

The online retail giant has opened a new store on East Exchange Street near the University of Akron campus, where customers can pick up items they have ordered without the risk of someone swiping it from their doorstep.

According to the Beacon Journal, customers will receive an email when their order has arrived to Amazon Akron. They can then respond to the email with a time they will be able to pick it up. When they come in to the store, they will scan a bar code on their smart phone. That triggers a locked compartment to open with the package placed inside by an employee.

Store officials say Amazon Student and Prime members can receive free one-day pickup on millions of items placed by 10:00 PM, and free returns back to Amazon is also available. They say most packages are available between 10:00 AM and noon the next day.

There are only 12 stores like it in the country and it's just the second in Ohio.

The fifth annual Porch Rokr Music and Art Festival is taking over Highland Square on Saturday.

The event will feature over 130 bands on 40 porches and four stages performing all day in the Akron neighborhood.

Kurt Reed is on the performers committee for Porch Rokr. He spoke with WAKR's Jason Sokol about the difficult task of choosing which bands will play at the festival. 

"We do take the time to listen to every single band", he says. "So know that if you didn't make it in to this year's Porch Rokr, there were committee members arguing over whether you should be picked or not for many hours."

The festival also includes art vendors, food trucks, and a silent disco where local DJs will spin songs that can only be heard with headphones that will be provided.

Katie Carver Reed with Porch Rokr tells us it's a team effort to put on the event which is done strictly by volunteers. 

"No one is paid to put on Porch Rokr", she says. "So we have on the day of the event around 60 or so volunteers that wake up bright and early to set up the stages, put out the signage, and to make sure that you have an enjoyable experience".

Local band The Dreemers will headline on the main stage around 7:15 PM.

It looks like Donald Trump will be coming to Akron after all.

According to his campaign website, Trump will be stopping by the James A. Rhodes Arena on the University of Akron campus on Monday for a rally at 7:00 PM.

Trump was previously scheduled to appear in Akron after the Republican National Convention in Cleveland last month, but later canceled the event.

He has visited northeast Ohio twice in past two weeks, once at Youngstown State and earlier at private fundraiser in Stark County.

Tickets to the rally at UA are available on his campaign website.

The man who fatally shot a robber inside his Akron home a year ago has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter charges. 

The Summit County Prosecutor's Office says 22 year-old David Hills was at his house on Hilbish Avenue when two men forced their way inside and attempted to rob Hills at gunpoint. 

When the men ran off of his property, Hillis opened fire with his own gun and shot one of them, Marcus Glover, in the head. Glover died instantly.

The other man, Terry Tart pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter earlier this month.

Tart is scheduled to be be sentenced in September, while Hillis will be sentenced in October.

Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that David Hillis, 22, of Hilbish Avenue in Akron, pled guilty to shooting to death Marcus Glover following an attempted robbery at Hillis’ home.

Hillis pled guilty to the following charge:

Voluntary Manslaughter – a felony of the 1st degree

In the afternoon of August 7, 2015, Hillis was at his Hilbish Avenue home when Terry Tart and Marcus Glover forced their way into the home. Tart and Glover attempted to rob Hillis at gunpoint. When Tart and Glover ran off, Hillis opened fire with his own gun. Glover was about 70 yards away and no longer on Hillis’ property when he was shot in the head and died.

Tart pled guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter in connection with the incident on August 4, 2016.

Visiting Judge Richard Reinbold is scheduled to sentence Tart on September 7, 2016 at 11am and Hillis onOctober 7, 2016 at 10am.

The games are about to begin, and Northeast Ohio will be well-represented in Rio.

The Olympics will feature some of the best athletes in the world including many local talents like rugby player and Massillon native Carlin Isles. He and his fellow Americans will take on Argentina in their opening round Tuesday at noon.

University of Akron student Clayton Murphy will run in the 800 meter event starting next Friday August 12.

Green High School graduate Kelsie Ahbe will compete next week in the pole vault for Canada, as she is a Toronto resident.

A few area alumni are also competing for other countries . Women's poll vaulter and University of Akron aluma Annika Roloff will compete for Germany, while fellow Zip Shawn Barber also poll vaults for Canada. Both are in action next week.

Kent State alumni can rally behind William Barnes and Danniel Thomas. Barnes will run in the 110 meter hurdles for Puerto Rico, while Thomas compete in women's shot put for Jamaica.

The Cleveland area will also have a strong showing. 18 year-old Cleveland Heights native Charles Conwell Jr. is the youngest member of the men's boxing team and will fight in the middleweight competition that starts on Monday.

Fencers Jayson Pryor and Lee Kiefer were both born in Cleveland and will also begin their tournaments this week. Pryor in the men's individual epee and Kiefer in the women's individual foil.

Track and field participants Tianna Bartoletta and Emily Infeld are also athletes to watch from the Cleveland area. Bartoletta, who was born in Elyera, will compete in the women's 100 meter , long jump, and 4x100 relay. Infeld, born and raised in University Heights, will run in the women's 10,000 meter .

And of course Kyrie Irving will represent the Cavs as Team USA begins their journey towards a gold medal Saturday evening at 6:00 against China.

It's forecasted to be a very warm weekend, and that could be a heath risk for some individuals.

The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency has issued an Air Quality Advisory for much of the listening area Saturday.

The counties under the advisory include Medina, Summit and Portage, as well as all greater Cleveland counties.

The NOACA warns that air quality levels may be "unhealthy for sensitive groups" during this period.

The National Weather Service also has a large part northern Ohio under a Heat Advisory until 8:00 Sunday.
