As the draft approaches for the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, it would not surprise many to see them again trade down from #8, but they could stay at that spot and pick up either another lineman, or perhaps an Ohio favorite.

Tom Reed from the Cleveland Plain Dealer says that if the Browns stay at 8, they could take Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott, or they could solidify the trenches with Jack Conklin, the offensive tackle out of Michigan State, or go with Ronnie Stanley, the tackle out of Notre Dame.

Reed says it's all about what the Browns want, and what their needs are.

"There's a lot of range there, with things they can do with that #8 pick," Reed explained.

He says that they might take a look at quarterback later in the first round, either Paxton Lynch out of Memphis or local product from Walsh Jesuit, Connor Cook (who played collegiately at Michigan State).

The Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the NBA Playoffs and now they await the winner of the Boston/Atlanta series, which is now tied at 2 apiece.

Mike Petraglia, Boston sports reporter for WEEI Radio in Boston joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about the series, the ebbs and flows, and the quality coaching job done by Brad Stevens in Beantown.

Mike says that it's been entertaining watching this series at the TD Garden, with a raucous crowd that's always behind their team 100 percent.

"It's been a great atmosphere," he said.

He says he gives the edge in the series to the Celtics because of the way they've been playing as of late and their leadership on the bench from Stevens and the leadership on the floor from guard Isaiah Thomas.

Mike also talked about the ruling that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady must serves a four game suspension for his role in the Deflategate situation.

AUDIO Browns Looking Ahead Towards Draft

The Cleveland Browns are just four short days away from selecting #8 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, and while many people think they will trade down, it is also possible the Browns will stay at that spot and pick a quality player there.

Scott Petrak, who covers the Browns for the Elyria Chronicle Telegram joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about where Cleveland may go with their Top 10 selection, and what's going on in the minds of the brain trust as we get closer and closer to Draft Day in Chicago.

"If I had to bet, I'd say they'd stick at 8," Petrak said. "That's because there's so many moving pieces, you have to find the right trading partner, the right guy has to be there at 8 for somebody to want to move up, but I really think that trading down is obviously a pretty good option."

The Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles swapped the #2 and the #8 overall picks in the first round last week. The Browns have 12 picks in 2016.

AUDIO Zavac Sets Scene For Game 3

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons will be squaring off in their playoff matchup tonight in Auburn Hills, in front of a raucous crowd, who hasn't seen a playoff home game in seven years.

Joining the show from Auburn Hills, Dave Zavac from Fear The Sword joined Brad Russell in the Average Sports Show and he says the Cavs are loose and ready to go tonight in Michigan.

"I think the Cavs are ready," Zavac said.  "They had their intro playing in the locker room, so they're feeling good heading into tonight."

Dave doesn't seem to think Stanley Johnson's comments will bother LeBron James or the rest of the team, and that they will come out focused and prepared for the task at hand.

The Cavs and Pistons will tip things off at 7 p.m. on 1590 WAKR.

One of the area's better high school baseball teams is off to a hot start, and things are looking up.

Greg Pickard, the head coach of the Wadsworth Grizzly baseball team joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about his team and what they've been doing on the diamond.

"Things are going well, we're 12-2 right now, we've been dodging the rain, we've been hitting well, and have been pitching really well too," Pickard said.

The Grizzlies have had to get a few make-up games in with the rain and snow in the early part of the season and are led by three seniors at the top of their pitching rotation.

"Chris Byers and Cameron Deemer have been doing well for us, as three-year starters, and then Ross Thompson, who worked in last year, has had a great year, including a win over Brecksville."

The Grizzlies will be at Canal Park this coming Sunday against Medina Highland at 2 p.m.

AUDIO Cavs & Pistons Ready For Game 3

The Cavaliers and the Pistons will tip it off in Auburn Hills, Michigan for Game 3 of their first-round playoff series, and the Wine and Gold is tuning out the noise and getting ready for the task at hand.

Sam Amico from Amico Hoops.net joined the Sam Bourquin Show on a Feel Good Friday to talk about the matchup and what his thoughts are going into this contest.

Amico said the Cavs have to be more physical then they have been all series.

"It's about coming out and not only matching their energy, but setting the tone early, and being more physical," Amico explained.

"The Cavs can't get caught up in the crowd getting on them, and they need to come out and show the Pistons they can be tough and physical."

Aaron McMann from MLive Media Group offered his perspective from the Detroit side of things, saying it's been awhile since the Pistons have hosted a playoff game, and he knows the atmosphere will be raucous at the Palace tonight.

Aaron says the Pistons will play tough, hard-nosed basketball, and it all starts from their leading scorer in the regular season, Reggie Jackson.

"I don't think he's hit his plateau yet, but he's a guy that wants to win, and for Stan to put the offense on his shoulders, it says a lot."

The Cavs and the Pistons play tonight at 7pm on 1590 WAKR.

AUDIO Brendan Bowers: Cavs Looking Strong

The Cleveland Cavaliers are up 2-0 against the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, and the Wine and Gold are tuning out the noise and playing their game.

Brendan Bowers from SLAM Magazine joined the Average Sports Show to talk about the series and what the Cavaliers are doing to ensure their success in the second season.

Bowers likes the matchup from a competitiveness standpoint.

"It's been a great start so far, I like the energy level from the Cavaliers, and I like to see that continue to build throughout the series."

The Pistons have had a chip on their shoulder the size of Lake Michigan, and with Stanley Johnson's comments about being in LeBron' James' head, they haven't backed down from Cleveland.

Brendan says it doesn't matter what's said as long as the Cavs play their game, space the floor, and play quality defense.

AUDIO Hangst: Browns/EaglesTrade Smart

Yesterday, the NFL was buzzing as the Cleveland Browns and the Eagles have swapped first-round picks, with Philadelphia selecting at #2 overall, and the Browns moving down to the #8 overall pick.

Andrea Hangst from the Orange and Brown Report joined Brad Russell in the Average Sports Show to talk about her initial thoughts on the move and what it means for the Browns moving forward.

"Right now it looks like a big win to me, they have 12 picks this draft, they have an additional first round pick next year,  they have a second rounder in 2018, I think it's a really smart move when you look at all the picks they acquired from Philadelphia," she said.

"That brings a lot more value to the team I think, potentially at least than anyone they could have picked with that second overall selection."

Hangst believes the Browns could select UCLA linebacker Myles Jack with the #8 pick. He does bring some health concerns with the knee, but can stop the run and work in coverage as well. Another possibility could be Ohio State star Ezekiel Elliott, who could provide playmaking ability at the running back position.

AUDIO John Sarver Talking Ellet Baseball

The Ellet Orangemen boys' baseball team is doing well on the diamond, and coming off of a good week, they are looking to continue to get better.

John Sarver, the head coach of the Orangemen joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about his young team and what they need to do to have success in the City Series.

"I like the makeup of our team, we lost four senior pitchers, so we're young in that area, we have a good defensive team and a good hitting team," he said.

Ellet only has one senior pitcher in Dustin Franklin, but coach Sarver says the young pitchers in the rotation have talent on their side, and with the experience they've been gaining this year, it has proven to be invaluable.

Ellet will face nearby rival Tallmadge this weekend, and he knows Kenny Linn's kids will be competitive on Saturday.

"He's always going to have his kids playing good defense, hitting the ball well, and have good pitching," Sarver said. "Kenny's always tough.

AUDIO Raised Expectations For Zips Football

The Zips have wrapped up spring practice, and coming off their bowl win against Utah State, the Akron football team is looking to build off of last year's success.

George Thomas, who covers the Zips for the Akron Beacon Journal joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about the team's mindset and strengths after their strong spring.

Thomas said that the wide receivers looked strong, and it wasn't just Jerome Lane who stood out this spring.

"They looked very good," Thomas said. "I'm talking Austin Wolfe, I'm talking Michael Means, Jo Jo Natson, who stands about 5 foot 8, but if you give him daylight, he's gone."

There were some other bright spots including the defensive backfield and the offensive line, but one of the key takeaways was that incumbent starter Thomas Woodson must work on his accuracy in order for his playmakers to get the most out of their ability.

The Blue squad squeaked by the White squad 20-17 last Saturday at Infocision Stadium-Summa Field to wrap up spring practice.
