The Indians head into Houston going 5-1 in their last six games, and their solid pitching and timely hitting has been the elixir for some success as of late.

Matt Loede, who covers the Tribe for NEOSportsInsiders.com joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about the Tribe's run at Progressive Field and what they need to do to sustain that momentum and stay above water in the AL Central Division.

Loede said Josh Tomlin, who started yesterday, has been lights out this season.

"He doesn't give up a lot of free passes and he doesn't have a lot of bad innings," Loede said. "He's been consistent and he's the perfect guy for the back of that rotation, he doesn't walk many guys and he's great after losses."

Tomlin pitched seven strong innings for the Indians in the 5-4 win.

The Cavaliers have completed their sweep of the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday, and it seems as though the Wine and Gold are really coming together.

Brian Dulik from the Medina Gazette joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about what they've been doing as of late and how their long-distance shooting has propelled them to new heights.

"This team has that special feeling to it," Dulik said. "It's been so much fun to watch, and I'm excited even though we have a week in between games to see what happens next."

The Cavs have swept both the Detroit Pistons and the Atlanta Hawks and will await the winner of the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat series.

Head Coach Tyronn Lue, who took the helm in the middle of the season has been pressing all the right buttons it seems during the playoffs.  Brian says he's been impressed with how he's been able to make adjustments on the fly and get the players in the best position to make plays and win games.

"It's all Tyronn Lue's schemes, relying on his assistant coaches, and it's all about them playing great defense."

The Kentucky Derby will be taking place tomorrow, and many people have their prognostications as to who will take home the win in 2016.

Ed DeRosa from TwinSpires.com joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about the Derby this year and how American Pharoah's Triple Crown has sparked interest in horse racing across the country.

DeRosa says American Pharoah's win was a big boost for the sport.

"It's been good to see the uptick, but let's turn it into a long term win instead of a short term gain," he said.

He says the tracks at the regional level can help with that by providing an entertaining product and making it comfortable for guests.

As far as the Derby itself, Nyquist is the favorite, but Ed says there are other horses that could take it home.

Exaggerator is Ed's top pick to win the Derby, and he likes his odds at 5 to 1.

AUDIO Cavs Get Ready For Game 3

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the ATL and are looking to put the Hawks in a 3-0 hole in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Joe Vardon from Cleveland.com joined Sammy B on a "Feel Good Friday" to talk about the matchup, if the Cavs will continue to shoot at their blistering pace, and if Atlanta will play dirty.

Vardon says he expects this contest to be a little tighter than in Game 2, where the Wine & Gold connected on a record 25 three-pointers.

"It's hard to find a matchup right now that the Hawks can exploit," said Vardon.

As far as the comments addressed by NBA analyst Charles Barkley, Joe says he doesn't expect any tom-foolery from Atlanta here tonight, or throughout the series.

"I think they're a more cerebral team, they respect the game, they will play more agressive defense on the perimeter," he explained.

The Cavs and the Hawks tip it off tonight at 7 p.m. on 1590 WAKR.

The Perry Panthers have a new boys basketball coach in the fold.

Chad Spurgeon was named the coach and he plans on putting his stamp on this program and teach his players the value of hard work and teamwork.

He says he's excited to return to his alma mater and hit the ground running.

"It is fun to take on something like this obviously," Spurgeon said. "The Federal League is a very good public school league, there's a great sense of pride amongst Perry people, I've heard from a lot of the alumni and the people in the town, so I'm excited."

Spurgeon previously coached at New Philadelphia high school for the past six seasons.

Akron Rubberducks baseball is in full swing down at Canal Park, and the young team has been hitting their stride as of late in the Eastern League.

Dave Wallace, the manager of the Rubberducks joined Sam Bourquin and Brad Russell during their live broadcast from Canal Park Tuesday to talk about the team's first month of the season and how they're developing.

"It's been an interesting first month of the season," Wallace says. "I say that in a positive manner, because it's been cool to see some of the guys I've been hearing about for a long time, but haven't had a chance to see."

Wallace pointed to youngsters Clint Frazier and pitcher Ben Heller just to name a couple of the players who came in highly touted, but have worked very hard to get to this level of baseball.

He also said big-leaguers Michael Brantley and Lonnie Chisenhall have been instrumental to the development of the Ducks' players during their rehab stints as well.

AUDIO Cavs Looking To Sustain Momentum

The Cleveland Cavaliers had a good showing at Quicken Loans Arena Monday night against the Atlanta Hawks 104-93, and after an eight day layoff, they looked just as crisp as they did when they swept Detroit in the first round.

Sam Amico from AmicoHoops.net joined Sam Bourquin and Brad Russell during their live broadcast from Canal Park Tuesday to talk about the win, the Cavs' energy on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor, and their mentality heading into Game 2 in Cleveland Wednesday night.

Amico said that he liked how the Cavaliers came out with a lot of energy early on.

"They really played with passion right away, they did the right things early, they got Kyrie going early," Amico said.  The Wine and Gold did give up an 18 point lead during one stretch, but Sam said he wasn't worried that the Cavaliers would lose.

He (Amico) says the Cavaliers have to get out and play their game early so the Big 3 can get a rest.

"You want to play your Timofey Mozgovs, your Dahntay Jones'," he says. "I just need to think you need to start resting your regulars."

The Cavaliers and Hawks play Game 2 at 8 p.m. on 1590 WAKR.  The Average Sports Show will broadcast live from the Q from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. prior to tip-off.

AUDIO Brad Visits Arrowhead Golf Club

It's time to tee it up in 2016 as Brad Russell from the Average Sports Show takes a look at Arrowhead Golf Course in North Canton, Ohio.

Rob Purcell, General Manager of Arrowhead said that the course has had a rich history on and off the greens.

"We've been doing a great food business, the golf course is getting better every year, it's a small green type of golf course, and it's just a great place to play," Purcell said.

Purcell along with business partner Scott DeMusey say they pride themselves on providing a fun, friendly atmosphere at Arrowhead and he says that the first-time golfer will have a great experience.

"We have a background in the private club business, we expect our staff to be professional, and we want you to enjoy your golf time here."

He says hole #9 is one of the more challenging and scenic holes on the course, with a view of the pro shop and a pond as well.

Arrowhead Golf Club is one of the courses on the 2016 Players Golf Card.

The Browns drafted wide receiver Corey Coleman with the #15th overall pick out of Baylor University. Coleman's former college coach offered his take on how he progressed down at Waco, and what he worked on to get to his dream.

Baylor head football coach Art Briles joined the Sam Bourquin Show to talk about the former Belitnikoff award winner and the winning attitude he will bring to the Browns this upcoming fall.

He said Coleman is a guy that brings a lot of intangibles to the table including speed, toughness, and a willingness to work.

"He's a can't miss guy, and you're going to love him in Cleveland, I'll guarantee you that," Briles said.

Coleman was the first wideout off the board for the Browns in Thursday night's first round in Chicago. Coach Briles says Corey was a serious and diligent worker in his four years at Baylor.

He's a guy that certainly never had an issue with us on or off the football field," Briles said. "He's a pro and pros have certain parameters to stay within, and he's not going to have a problem staying within that."

After many years as the head coach of the Canton Central Catholic boys' baseball team, a familiar face will no longer be seen at the field that bears his name after the school year ends.

Doug Miller will be leaving CCC after 34 years of coaching and 37 years at the school at the end of the school year after signing a buyout.

Joe Scalzo from the Canton Repository joined the Sam Bourquin Show on a Friday to talk about the situation and where Miller and the school go from here.

Scalzo said that when he spoke to Miller for his story in the Rep , there was a somber tone in his voice.

"Obviously Doug isn't a fire breathing Central Catholic guy, he just wants to coach baseball, and he's very upset by this."

He also pointed out that the beloved coach was one of the most popular figures not only in the school, but in the Canton community as well.

The Crusaders won a state championship in baseball last season, and he won his 700th career game earlier this week.

CCC and Jackson will play this Saturday.
