This week, our 1590 WAKR Male Student Athlete of the Week is senior bowler Tyler Silcox of East CLC.

He says he's proud of how the team has done thus far, at 4-3 on the season.

"My team has really come on to be a competitive team, and I'm happy to see the progress we've had so far."

Tyler has been bowling since age 11, and with his dad as his coach, he's had some good support on the home front and on the lanes.

"We tend to disagree in some aspects, but we have the same goal in mind, and that's to make the team better," he explained.

One of his most memorable moments while bowling for East, is when Tyler bowled a 300 game as a sophomore in the City Series bowling tournament.

Even though Tyler is proud of his accomplishments on the lanes, he puts the team first and recognizes them for their contributions to the greater goals of the season.

"Without my team, without my dad being my coach, I wouldn't be here bowling for East," he says.

Tyler plans on attending Kent State University after graduation in the spring of this year (2017) and study Database Administration.

We here at 1590 WAKR wish Tyler the best in all of his future endeavors.

As Southwest slowly cut down on their services at the airport, CAK will see a sizable bump with Spirit Airlines, another low-cost airline with flights headed to warm-weather destinations in Florida and South Carolina.
