Ellet Orangeman baseball junior hurler Matt Cody is the WAKR Student Athlete of the Week for April 22nd-April 29th.
Matt threw a one-hit shutout against Firestone this week, and in three starts this year, he has limited his opponents to just five hits.
"I've been pretty on target this year," says Cody. [I] love to pitch."
Matt is a two-year starter for Ellet on the mound, and when he is not pitching, he roams centerfield for the Orangeman. His twin brother, Steve, patrols left field for Ellet.
"It is pretty special getting a chance to play with your brother," said Cody. "we love the game and the friendly competition between us."
Both Matt and Steve play on the Ellet football team, as well. Matt was an All-City Academic selection in 2015.
"My sport is baseball. I like football but my passion is baseball. I have played since those little league and travel baseball days. It's a blast."
Matt is planning on a career in criminal justice, as he would like to become a Police Officer.
